What is wifi?
Wifi is an acronym for Wireless Fidelity; it is built under a system that operates on wireless radio waves (also known as IEEE 802.11 networks). Wifi waves allow you to access the internet at a specified distance without the need for a physical connection (direct connection to the network wire).
There are currently six most common wifi standards: a, b, g, n, ac, ad. The ac standard is most popular on mobile phones, computers, laptops, and many other smart devices.
How does wifi work?
Before you want to use wifi to connect to the internet, you must equip a wifi transceiver. This receiver can receive a wifi signal converted to a radio signal and transmitted by an antenna.
The router acts as a wifi transceiver. That is responsible for receiving radio waves that are the requested data and sent from the requesting devices. It then converts it to data and transmits it over the physical connection.
When the requests of devices such as mobile phones, laptops are found, the routers encode them into radio waves and send the information back to the requesting device.
The wifi transceiver is also known as a network card or a wifi card and can connect to many devices simultaneously.
How to get strong wifi signal for laptop effectively.
Restart the router
Routers are also known as Routers, and restarting them is the first, simplest, and the most effective way today. Because network connections will become unstable, flickering after a period of use.
Therefore, when you use a laptop and see signs of running “slow as a turtle,” you should go where the router is located and unplug the internet cable. Then, unplug the router from the power outlet and wait for 1-5 minutes (or longer if you find the router is still hot).
Finally, you can plug in the power, internet cable back and use it normally. That can be called a quick trick whenever the network is lagged, slow, disconnected that any technical staff uses.
Move the Router Router to another place.
When you use the first method, and the network is still slow, you can try the second method. One of the reasons why the wifi kit is bad is because of metal.
This way, you need to move the router’s place to another place with an open and airy space.
When moving, don’t forget to straighten the router’s antenna so that the wifi signal coverage is stronger and better.
Check the line inside or outside.
In this way, you will check the network connection in the house and outside like a neighbor.
Suppose someone is playing a game or downloading heavy data. It will consume a lot of bandwidth and lead to a slow connection to the laptop.
Change wifi channel
Currently, many streets use overlapping wifi ranges. This condition is common and often encountered in residential areas of large cities.
Wifi overlap is often encountered and affects your home network. You can use channel changers for your home’s wifi.
Depending on the type of router, you will have different configurations. Therefore, you should see what type of router your home is in and refer to the accompanying documentation or search for the Wireless Channel item to choose to change the channel.
Turn off unnecessary apps.
It would help if you did not ignore this because this is also understandably one of the causes of weaker wifi. Many applications run in the background or forget to turn off, making wifi speed not strong. The simple way is to turn off unnecessary applications.
You perform the key combination Ctrl + Alt + Delete for Windows operating system or press command + Space and enter the keyword activity monitor for macOS.
Finally, users need to click on the Network item to rearrange applications according to the network’s traffic, click End Process to turn off unnecessary processes.
Use a wifi extender
Recently, the use of wifi range extenders has been used by many families. The signal booster, also known as the signal booster, will amplify the wave up, increasing the coverage over a larger space.
That helps you get a faster wifi signal without being limited by surrounding obstacles.
You can buy a wave extender on the market, depending on the size of your home space; you can order this device accordingly. Note that the extender only works to spread Wi-Fi for laptops from obstacles in the house, not to make Wi-Fi stronger.
Check wireless devices again.
Wireless mobile devices such as phones, wireless Bluetooth speakers, microwave ovens, etc., use 2.4Ghz frequency, directly affecting wifi waves.
However, wifi waves can operate on different frequencies, automatically changing frequencies or reducing the frequency of waves.
But if you want to make sure of the reason for the laptop’s weaker wifi reception, then place the above devices far away from the wifi transmitter.
Contact your family’s internet provider.
When all the ways to get stronger wifi signal for laptops above do not work, you should contact your family’s internet provider.
Many reasons come from the total network provider, such as unstable wifi lines, waves, weather, etc.
Usually, in these cases, everyone calls the switchboard and asks to check the network speed or let the network operator send a technician to check for you.
