Design

The K3003 is one of the earphones that launches Hybrid design, but its design is not complete yet. Because of the obsolete cord-down wear, the slippery case is slipping and the strings are not good value for money. With the N40, AKG listened to the market and launched a much more complete design.

The N40 has an over-the-ear design for increased comfort, above all, removes annoying microphonics caused by two strings. The headset is made of soft plastic, with glossy finish and print logo. With the Reference, the N40’s midrange becomes the most balanced, with neither the bass nor the high strings. This sound is akin to the AKG K612 pro pair, although it is slightly more advanced. High strips

With the N40 AKG also focused on reproducing the high natural range. When inserting the Bass boost or Reference filter, the treble sound is not much varied and the volume is adequate. How to play Hi-hat, Crash of the N40 is easy to hear with sweetness and not sibalance. However, if a High boost filter is added, the treble increases dramatically in volume, brightens, is slightly thinner and cooler. The phenomenon of sibalance also appears to be mild, but not so persistent and so severe that it is difficult to hear.

Negative field

AKG N40 has a relatively light sound, thin and concentrated in the middle of the head, so it does not create deep sound. This is also a general statement for the headphones of the audio company from Austria. Outstanding sound, bands and instruments do not overwhelm the stage. But when listening for the long and choosing the right kind of music, people will recognize the sound of the N40 is not narrow.
