After a year of hard work and hard work, Holiday is a rare time for me to allow myself to be lazy. To help with that laziness, I took advantage of enough technology items to keep my feet on the sofa longer than usual. Of course, the TV remote, smartphone, and a wireless keyboard.

This wireless mechanical keyboard was part of my meager bonus last year. It was brought back for more work purposes. However, during the New Year holidays full of disease risks and I can only stay at home, the keyboard plays a very comfortable entertainment role that I feel very satisfied when choosing.

Classic design but youthful style

As a technology user with simple but luxurious designs like MacBook, I am always looking for products that provide the most seamless visual experiences. It may not be too fancy, but it must be eye-catching. The main color tone of Akko Silent in general and of the 3084 version is gray-white, not a dazzling white like many other keyboard models.

Next to the white keycaps are the function keys in a classic dark gray color scheme. If you do not like this boredom, Akko has added a little youthfulness in the replacement keycap set with a gentle but still very harmonious and pleasing blue color.

The font on the keycap is thin, round, easy to see. The keycap has a moderate width and clear spacing, and the main typing layout is easy to use. The OEM profile is present on most mechanical keyboard models in the market, so there should be no difficulty for first-timers.

Referring to the name Akko Silent, this is the name of a key line of Akko! Don’t be confused with the super-quiet Silent switch on that market. Although there is a full version, I chose the shortened keyboard version with 84 keys to easily fit into my 13-inch laptop backpack. Compared to the MacBook I have, it looks quite suitable in both sizes, not too big but not too short.

The case has a moderate natural slope; I do not need to use the lifting system very comfortably. If you are still not satisfied, Akko Silent also has two lifting levels from medium to high; of course, this type of lift will make your wrists tired faster and need a set of armrests. Because of mobility, although I also like to own a palm rest, I also ignore this idea.

I used to own quite a few sets of mechanical keys classified as high-end, so I paid a little attention to the feeling when holding the keyboard in my hand. With Akko Silent’s all-plastic frame, a little bit of distortion inevitably lacks compactness and firmness. But that’s only when you pick it up. No one picks up the keyboard to type, so you can rest assured about the little things that you share. It’s all just a little personal feeling!

As for the switches, Akko Silent is designed to expose them to the outside. Much of it is because the keycap material is made from PBT; the way for the LED background system to be brighter is to let them lie exposed like this. This design is quite easy to collect dust and greatly affects the lifespan of the switch. If you love Akko Silent and want to stick with it for a long time, regularly take care and clean it to avoid dirt getting inside the switch.

A USB Type-C port is located to the keyboard’s top edge’s left. I prefer it to sink deeper into the case because that will help the cable be more fixed when you need to use a wired connection or for charging. It is also an insignificant detail because I use the wireless connection mode more often.

A fun experience for lazy people

My original purpose when owning Akko Silent was to remove the tangled wires on the desk every time I started a working day. You need to flip the back to flip the switch and start connecting to your laptop or tablet to use. However, it turned out to be more helpful than a lazy kid like me. However, let’s talk about the basic experience that Akko Silent brings.

With less than $100, I will not ask for this keyboard to make the happy typing feel on high-end keyboards. However, it is still very good in the long run. Once you get used to the feeling of typing on this keyboard, you don’t even bother to compare it with other keyboards. The bounce is good, the key travel is also pleasant, typing is very accurate, and there are no loose and unbalanced feelings like cheap keyboard models. Therefore, I don’t care if it uses Cherry or Gateron.

There are quite a few people around me who have borrowed it to experience and complain about the brightness of the LED lights on the Akko Silent. However, I find it okay, not too bright, and not distracting. Once you’ve memorized where the keys are, it’s not often that you need to look down at the keyboard to see what you’re pressing.

With the PBT keycap, its ability to hold dirt is very low. Often snacking, but almost on the keyboard buttons, there are no traces of their fingerprints or traces of food stains. That doesn’t mean that you don’t have to clean the keys regularly.

Why do I emphasize that this is a keyboard for lazy people? It comes from the keyboard’s ability to connect to everything in this world. With 4 Bluetooth profiles, I can use it to connect to my laptop (of course) and have an iPad, so I can work or play on the laptop while chatting with friends on the tablet without lifting them off the table. Just press the button to switch modes.

There are times when I even plug my laptop into the TV screen and sit on the sofa to type, quite relaxing. Sometimes I turn on the Share Screen mode on my smartphone to connect to the TV and use the keyboard to type quickly. When necessary, I return to TV mode and use the keyboard to enter data to search for the movies I want to watch, which is very convenient without pressing the TV remote, which is a hassle.

Indeed, a mechanical keyboard with a typing experience is better than using those annoying input tools. Thanks to that, I didn’t need to move much during the past holidays, sit in one place and enjoy the long days of relaxation to recharge my energy for a new year’s start.

Akko Silent can be a keyboard that gives you more convenience at work. But over the past few days, I realized that this is the most worthy investment with the meager bonus that I received after a difficult year. With this keyboard, I hope my work will become more convenient and smooth in the new year and the experiences I get when using it.
