Battle Chasers: Nightwar is a game from the United States but imbued with the classic … JRPG style, so what can we expect from a product painted with an extremely eye-catching “arcane punk” cartoon style come from Airship Syndicate?
There was a huge amount of turn-based combat in the 3v3 format, with an… countless number!
The way the combat system works in the game is not too complicated: the basic actions of each character in the party are performed as soon as the player chooses – usually with stereotypes such as basic attack or increases defense/dodge for the next turn (s).

19 hours later, although the number decreased slightly, mainly due to the option to skip battles where enemies were too low in rank for the party, in general the frequency of fights spawned was still ridiculously high, making the writer unable to stop thinking that the Airship Syndicate wants to waste time and force the player to “training” insignificantly by being bound within the framework of combat.
The writer did not know if this was a characteristic of the turn-based JRPG genre or not, if it was true, Battle Chasers: Nightwar did a great job in making me … completely disenchanted with this game genre.
There are many ways to make training fun, but making dozens / hundred matches meaningless and wasting time is not one of them.
Is it interesting?
I don’t think even connoisseurs of Dungeon and Dragon will confidently say yes.
Finally, although Battle Chasers: Nightwar possesses many interesting boss fights due to the amount of “unique and strange” skills and the unpredictability of each encounter, there are also many battles behind beat makes the writer have … headache.
The game patch released minimizes the experience balance between seamless Dungeons, but I still have a feeling that this change is not enough, especially when the level gap of the enemy at Junkertown and the mine are three levels – a number that might not seem like a big deal but creates an oddly high difficulty barrier.
The game does not seem to want you to go straight to the main storyline but have to “derail” a little to plow, and this makes the writer even more annoyed by the repetitive nature of the game.
Oh and if you run into a bunch of infinitely healable hordes on a big hot air balloon unless you get past the 3 or 4 levels, don’t waste your time fighting them.
This is the moment that makes the writer give up and make sure the game “cheats” for the enemy to use the powerful move continuously without spending Mana – who balances the 3v3 strategy game like this?
