EarFun is indeed a special company, breaking all norms of the completely wireless headset market regarding products with an abundance of features at a price range that anyone can access. The company’s latest pair of headphones – EarFun Free Pro still embodies this principle, even more, prominent than its predecessors when bringing active noise cancellation to an unprecedentedly low price!

I quite like the way EarFun can box, just small enough to put everything, not cumbersome.

All the ear accessories are neatly arranged on a plastic sheet like this, including a USB Type-C charging cord, three rubber pads, and two sets of ear flaps.

Even the charging box of the headset is quite small, only half the size of an alpenliebe! The company uses both glossy and rough plastic to give this charging box a premium look, neither too shiny nor too boring.

The USB Type-C charging port is located at the back, along with an LED light at the front to indicate battery life. This charging box gives the headset a total of 32 hours of use, along with the ability to wirelessly charge according to Qi standards, no less than the company’s top pair of Air Pro headphones!

And here are our Free Pro headphones. Unlike other brands, the Pro version of the earphones from EarFun has a completely different design from its regular version. The Free pair of headphones has a rounded shape, just fit into the ear with a rubber cushion, then the Free Pro is more elongated, using both cushions and ear flaps.

With a design like this, users will have to spend extra time choosing the right type of cushion and wing for themselves because if they do not choose the right size, the ear will be tight or not fit, possibly falling out. I’m lucky that the built-in ones fit in my ears, no need to change anything.

The outside of the headset is the large touch surface, allowing users to control the headset without using a smartphone.

Still designed to be used anytime, anywhere, Free Pro is also equipped with IPX5 waterproof standards. Surely people will wonder why was the previous version water resistant up to IPX7, but this new, more advanced Pro version was downgraded to the only IPX5? The answer lies in the fact that the headset must integrate more microphones – for an extremely rare feature in the price range, active noise cancellation ANC!

That’s right, a pair of In-ear headphones with a slim design, priced at less than $90, now have active noise cancellation! So in practice, does this feature work or not? According to the manufacturer’s announcement, the Free Pro has a noise-canceling effect that stops at 28dB, 10dB lower than the 38dB level of the Air Pro pair.

The Free Pro’s noise cancellation will be a bit lower than that of the Air Pro. If Air Pro effectively blocks all car horns and human voices, Free Pro effectively blocks continuous noises, ‘soothing’ human voices, and will be slightly weaker than car horns. It must be re-affirmed that Free Pro’s ANC noise cancellation is still effective, giving a much higher ability to block external noise than headphones without it. When placed next to high-end products with stronger ANC, we can only see the difference!

There are so many great things stuffed in such a low-priced pair of headphones; surely the company has to make sacrifices in sound quality? On practical experience, this is not true; while Free Pro still keeps a good sound quality in the price range, there is a little more ‘lightsome’ for those who love dance and pop music.

Open the song Unity – Alan Walker, Free Pro for thick bass, with a moderate boom to create a vibrant atmosphere but not to the extent of encroaching on other sound bands. Every time the bass emerges, we feel that this band is ‘full’; the beat is solid, not hollow, showing the surface but without the depth. The bass detail may not be equal to that of the Air Pro pair, but we can also accept it at a lower price range.

By the general sound quality of the headset, the midsection is made thick and leans in a warm direction. Like bass, every time the singer’s voice plays with Free Pro, we feel the internal force; the thickness of the midsection is solid, not hollow. This expression also gives an advantage that the headset never suffers from sibilance, ‘accepting’ even the highest vocals with songs mixed in a slightly electronic form; Free Pro always brings one bold mid sound but is easy to listen to enjoy.

The Treble of EarFun Free Pro will suffer a little bit because, to perfect the sound quality in a slightly dark and warm, the treble cannot be bright and stand in front of the other two bands. The amount of treble stops at just enough to use, the brightness is enough to ‘lift’ the sound quality a bit, not too buzzing, but cannot become the sound strip that catches the listener’s attention.

No-must-think choice!

From time to time, on the market, there are pairs of headphones that bring too high p / p at the price range, and they become “no need to think” options; if you have money, you should buy them. EarFun Free Pro is a candidate for this title, when in addition to the rather small disadvantages that you have to dig to find out, this is a pair of headphones that are too complete in all aspects, from rich sound quality, a little with bass to its features.
