The Eversolo Play is the latest “all-in-one” device which contains a streamer DAC and amplifier circuit inside its small box design. The system establishes simple home audio connections while it provides exceptional sound quality.
The Eversolo Play maintains its traditional square box shape which consists of a unibody structure built from high-quality aluminum alloy. The product demonstrates impressive strength and elegant design through its small size of 230 millimeters by 230 millimeters by 83 millimeters and its weight of 3 kilograms.
The base of the unit functions as a heat sink to keep the internal parts at their required operating temperatures. The device shows its metal heat sinks and ventilation holes through its inverted position which allows users to observe that it only reaches mild temperatures after long periods of operation.
The Play system includes a 5.5-inch color touchscreen on its front panel which users can use to operate all system functions. The backlit rotary knob operates multiple functions through its dual role as the power button and volume control function.
Eversolo has developed a user interface which enables users to operate the system through six primary categories which include Music Services Functions Apps Connectivity Cloud and Settings. The device provides better navigation than earlier versions. The device supports most popular streaming services and is ROON-ready. Play supports UPnP library access and it works with library management programs like Emby Plex and Jellyfin.
The system inside this small unit includes three components which are a streaming module and DAC and high-quality amplifier. The tested version contained a Hitachi-LG CD-ROM drive which represented a significant addition to the growing CD-ROM technology. The Eversolo Play requires only two items to begin music playback because users must connect the device to their home network through either LAN or Wi-Fi and then connect speakers.
The AK4493 DAC chip from Asahi Kasei enables users to decode PCM music up to 32-bit/768kHz and DSD512 files while delivering natural tonal balance and rich musicality. The Class D amplifier circuit provides 60W of power at 8 Ohm impedance and 110W at 4 Ohm which produces enough power to work with most available speakers. The Eversolo Play inherits most of the superior features from other Eversolo products, including room calibration and EQ customization.

The device lacks internal SSD storage for music which creates a disadvantage for users. The device has a phono input which marks its first appearance in an Eversolo product. The input handles MM and MC signals but lacks any capacity for gain or impedance modifications. The Eversolo Play provides multiple connection options which include Bluetooth, HDMI ARC, optical, coaxial, and two analog RCA inputs. The system provides three output options which are USB audio, coaxial, and a mono subwoofer output.
The Play shows Eversolo’s signature sound through its warm musical style when combined with Elac Unifi Reference UBR62 speakers. The Play presents sound quality that exceeds expectations based on its price even though it does not reach super-high-resolution standards. The opening track of “Money for Nothing” (Dire Straits) presents a powerful sound that includes both drums and guitar riffs which produce an energetic sound and a slowly developing transition. The Play system delivers a complete performance experience through its bass which produces powerful sound and maintains control throughout. The female vocals of Emilie-Claire Barlow in “These Boots Were Made for Walking” create a mesmerizing experience through her smooth and expressive singing. The soundstage provides wide space which lets instruments separate easily, although background instruments show a slight loss of sharpness. The fingerpicking and bowing techniques Christian McBride uses in “Night Train” demonstrate clear and precise sound, although some fine details become less distinct. The Eversolo Play provides a user-friendly experience that promotes relaxation instead of offering detailed sound analysis.
Some might buy the Eversolo Play solely for its CD playback capabilities. When you insert a disc, the device automatically retrieves album information and metadata, and can even rip music files to WAV or FLAC format. CD playback quality is excellent, with powerful performance and sound quality comparable to streaming music files. Moving on to the vinyl experience, the Play’s phono stage is equally impressive. It handles the signal from our Denon DL-103R MC cartridge well, delivering clear sound, good dynamic range, speed, and a wide soundstage. The sound is engaging and consistent with the vibrancy you hear from other music sources.
Overall, the Eversolo Play “all-in-one” streaming amplifier promises to be another big success for the company. It integrates a host of valuable features into a compact and stylish design, while delivering superb sound quality from any music source.
