amazon G.Skill Trident Z Royal reviews
Note: this series is not a limited edition assigned to a specific event or character. Instead, they are products that are mass-produced to meet large market demand and are an affirmation of G.Skill’s leadership position in the field of providing powerful RAM products and fashion.
The Trident Z Royal is available in speeds from 3,000MHz to 4,600MHz, with capacities ranging from 16GB (2x8GB) to 128GB (8x16GB). In this article, we will use the 16GB/3200 (2x8GB) kit for demonstration and testing.
Clock, latency, or other specifications are of course high-end. However, what makes the Trident Z Royal different is its unmistakable appearance from any competitor on sale.
The shape of the “three-fin” heatsink isn’t fundamentally different from that of regular Tridents, but the use of high-gloss aluminum – in a gold or silver color – makes it feel sure and different. In return for the flashy look, Trident Z Royal will be very susceptible to stains (sweat, fingerprints), so G.Skill has provided customers with a microfiber cloth for easy cleaning.
An interesting thing is that with the new finish, the edges of the Trident Z Royal will be rounded, not “sharp” like the regular version, which means it will be safer for users during installation. The height remains the same (44mm) so it will not interfere with any type of heatsink.
The real hit, however, is what’s called a ‘crystallized light bar’ – a specially machined transparent plastic layer hidden beneath an eight-zone RGB LED system.
In terms of performance, we used a system consisting of an ASUS ROG STRIX Z390-F GAMING motherboard and an Intel Core i7-8700K CPU for testing. Two kits (2x8GB) from TEAM GROUP (running at 3600MHz / 18-20-20-44-2T latency) and CORSAIR (running at 2667MHz / 16-16-16-38-2T latency) are included for comparison purposes.
Bandwidth and clock are always important, but low latency is the advantage of Trident Z Royal, it makes up for the shortcomings of other parameters quite well, this is shown when entering the performance test using the device’s practical use through scoring software.
In general, you won’t see a big difference in performance when using these kits with high-end CPUs and VGAs, but buying RAM with a 3200MHz or 3600MHz clock speed will still bring a certain satisfaction.
Summary: G.Skill is proving that it can still make a splash with the release of the Trident Z Royal RAM line. For those who are looking for a difference, this is not a bad choice.
