With Intel’s v3 Xeon E5-2600 series available, a host of server vendors launch a computing platform by taking advantage of the increased performance of the new Xeon processor architecture. HP Proliant DL360 Gen9 Server has a mainstream platform of 1U with new features in the HP ProLiant family, and in addition to new features in the E5-2600 v3 processor and DDR4 memory, HP Proliant Server DL360 Gen9 reflecting much progress in HP’s server technology investments.
Like the HP Proliant DL380 Gen9 Server, DL360 promotes the new Intel Xeon processor E5-2600 v3 of DDR4 up to 768GB, HP’s smart memory at speeds of up to 2,133MHz. The E5-2600 v3 series with new processors up to 18 cores and provides a theoretical performance improvement of up to three times per Watt on ProLiant Gen8 servers. Unlike its predecessor DL360p Gen8, DL360 supports Gen9 GPU: up to two single-wide cards and cards operating up to 9.5 inches.
The standardized units in the review process use the chassis with eight SFF Drive Bays for DLU 1U and configured with two 2.6GHz Intel Xeon processors E5-2697 v3, 256GB DDR4 RAM (16 DIMMs 16GB 2Rx4 PC4 -2133) and five SFF 400GB SAS SSD. Universal Media Bay is not filled in our test unit, but can be used to add two SFF drive bays or optical drives and VGA ports to access. We use two PCA FLR 10GbE SFP + HP interface cards for network connection.

Design
Our review unit uses a chassis with eight SFF drive bays attached to the front plus a space in Universal Media Bay at the top right and configured with two SFF drives or a combination of a Optical drive and a VGA port in front for access. A status panel with power button and LED indicating power status, medical system, unit ID, and network status are available on the right side along with a USB port. HP Proliant DL360 Gen9 Server Chassis with four LFF drive bays is available.
Cooling fan is provided in front of the system. Our configuration uses two 2.6GHz Intel Xeon E5-2697 v3 processors and fills 16 slots out of 24 DIMM slots. This system uses 16GB 2Rx4 PC4-2133 DIMMs DDR4 with a total of 256GB DDR4 memory. A MicroSD slot is located between the power supply and DIMM slots. A secondary PCIe riser with a third PCIe slot can be used for DL360 configurations similar to this with dual CPUs, and a FlexibleLOM slot and two SATA ports are also located at the back.
HP Proliant DL360 Gen9 server is equipped with a standard PCIe riser that provides two PCIe slots, while a second optional riser allows a third PCIe slot for dual-CPU configurations. The back of the server incorporates a VGA port, four 1GbE ports embedded network adapter, iLO management port, serial port, two USB 3.0 ports, LED ID unit, and access to FlexibleLOM card.

Management capability of HP Proliant Gen 9 Server
The HP ProLiant Gen 9 Server is equipped with a configuration for deployment with Unified Extensible Firmware Interface (UEFI) but also provides a Legacy startup mode. HP Integrated Lights-Out (iLO) is a proLiant notification and management system that is built into agentless management. Agentless manages communication using Direct Media Interface (DMI) and can be used in conjunction with HP’s Intelligent Provisioning to deploy and update servers without the same configurable media deploy reuse. ProLiant Gen9’s new provisioning feature includes access to virtual storage devices (VSA) of up to 1TB of HP StoreVirtual when there is no additional cost and new originals to automate settings server.

HP Active Health System (AHS) is an integrated component of HP for management and self-diagnosis. AHS will monitor server operations and operating status, configuration, and real – time records from iLO 4, ROM systems, programming logic devices (CPLD), intelligent arrays, BladeSystem Onboard Administrator, Agentless management services, and network card interfaces. It provides system-wide synchronization and monitoring and solutions to speed diagnostics and can be automatically sent to HP for analysis via Insight Online online or Insight 7.x will support remotely.
An iLO mobile app for iOS and Android can interact directly with iLO processors on ProLiant servers to provide system status and logs along with original and virtual media. The new HP RESTful interface for HP ProLiant Gen9 servers uses a native configuration API for quickly deploying multiple ProLiant servers when configuring servers with heterogeneous operating systems. HP ProLiant Gen9 also supports management through HP Systems Insight Manager 7.4 and HP Virtual Connect Enterprise Manager 7.4.

General analysis of business workload
Before starting each FIO composite standard, the first device entry condition has a steady state under heavy load of 16 threads with a prominent row of 16 on each thread. Then, store the test for a specified period of time with multiple thread / queue depth profiles to display performance under light and when used a lot.

With the workload including random 4k operations, the ProLiant DL360 Gen9 reaches 244,058IOPS for read operations and only 41,021IOPS of write operations using internal RAID10 volumes. Combined with all our flash arrays, the DL360’s 10GbE card can maintain 253,984IOPS for reading operations and 300,743IOPS of write operations.
Internal RAID10 volume experiences an average delay of only 1.05ms for read operation and 6.24ms for write operations. The 10GbE interface was able to hold 4k, its average latency reached 10.1ms for read operation and 0.85ms for write operations.
DL360 Gen9 server achieves a maximum delay of 86.6ms in 4k random read operations, while the maximum delay of 4k recording operations is only slightly higher at 112.3ms.
The standard deviation results show that there is a big change in latency results for 4k recording operations, corresponding to RAID10 SSD volume, consistent with the 4k results here.
After renovating the server and all flash arrays to turn sequential 8k, we measured with a load of 16 threads and had a queue depth of 16 for 100% read operations and 100% write operations. Storage of RAID10 Server HP DL360 Gen9 hit 147,178IOPS for sequential read operations with a 36,786IOPS score of write operations. 10GbE interface and all flash arrays can reach 159.158IOPS for read operation and 217.183IOPS write operations.
Subsequent results are derived from a protocol comprising 70% of random readings and 30% of write operations with an 8k workload as above with a variety of topics and counting queues. Through RAID10 volume to reach a maximum of 75,147IOPS compared to some 16 topics and has row depth 8.
