Neat design, waterproof, convenient to take anywhere

PartyBox On-The-Go has a more compact size than its seniors with dimensions of 48.9 x 24.45 x 22.4cm (W x H x D), and the weight is also reduced to 7.5Kg. Compared to JBL’s smallest “swing” speaker model last year, the PartyBox 100 with a weight of up to 9.7Kg and dimensions of 55.1 x 29 x 28.8cm, the PartyBox On-The-Go has “small” significantly better, suitable for “rolling” anywhere without being too cumbersome.

The design of PartyBox On-The-Go still inherits previous generations’ youthful and healthy style but is converted to horizontal instead of vertical. Of course, you can still put this speaker vertically if you want, thanks to the square and solid side design.

Large, sturdy metal speaker grille in front with the prominent JBL logo in the middle. Right from here, it can be observed that On-The-Go has one 5.25-inch (133mm) woofers responsible for the subwoofer and two 1.75-inch (44 mm) tweeters that take care of the high mids, frequency response from 50Hz to 20KHz. The vent also moves to the front instead of the back like previous PartyBox models.

The front of On-The-Go still has the RGB LED system featured on the PartyBox line. However, the number is reduced to only one lamp instead of 2 like the seniors. The lights can “spin” to the music; the brightness is high and allows you to customize many different effects that are quite fun, adding excitement to the night “party” sessions.

The shell and speaker frame are mainly made of plastic but very solid; there is no creaking point. The top panel focuses on all the control buttons. In addition to the volume up and down keys, Play / Pause music, Bluetooth, bass enhancement, or flashing lights, On-The-Go provides a professional microphone control dial system with the ability to fine-tune the echo, treble, and bass with the same volume.

The speaker also has a guitar port and a separate volume control for this instrument so you can “dance” with live music when needed. A wired microphone port is also available for you to use if you already have your favorite microphones.

A slot for phones and tablets is available right next to the control button area to easily observe and see the lyrics when you “show off your voice,” show off your karaoke skills. However, the length of this slot is a bit short and does not fit popular tablets such as iPads with screens of 9.7 inches or more if placed horizontally.

JBL’s speaker has four solid orange stands on the underside, ensuring that the speaker lies firmly on all planes and does not move or shake when turning the volume to the maximum.

The accessory that comes with JBL PartyBox On-The-Go is almost nothing. The two included microphones also have a dedicated carrying bag, three types of power cords with different plugs, ready for various sockets.

The sound quality is vibrant, full of “party,” singing, listening to music are all good.

As a “party” speaker line, it is not surprising that at the first notes. PartyBox On-The-Go has shown a vibrant sound quality, dense bass, suitable for EDM, dance-pop, hip hop, Rap club banger, trap, house, RnB… are trending nowadays like Pretty Savage – BLACKPINK or Positions – Ariana Grande. The rich bass range is solid, powerful, well-controlled, fully responding to songs with high-speed bass.

On-The-Go’s treb strip is gentle and smooth, although somewhat overwhelmed by the bass range. The mid sound is similar to the treble range, slightly behind the bass range, showing relatively thick and detailed.

100W power, JBL Pro Sound technology ensures that On-The-Go’s sound can fill a room of about 40m2. When used outdoors, in an open environment, the speaker can still hear well at a distance of 8-10m, suitable for moderate-sized “porridge” sessions of 10-20 people.

You can also connect two PartyBox On-The-Go wirelessly together to create a pair of speakers with more vivid stereo effects thanks to True Wireless Stereo technology. Bluetooth 4.2 connection, support A2DP 1.3 audio profile, AVRCP 1.6 works stably during the experience.

PartyBox On-The-Go can “carry” 2 microphones simultaneously with a volume and echo level that is more than 50% customized in terms of karaoke capabilities. The voice is reproduced naturally, warmly, not mixed with the background music; there is no broken sound or breathlessness due to the amplifier’s exhaustion. The two included microphones are well-finished, solid, sturdy, good sound, stable connection. Customizing the increase/decrease of reverb, treble, and bass also brings more interesting and professional singing experiences.

The time to use the microphone is about 10 hours, with a maximum distance of about 10m from the speaker. Micro uses familiar AA batteries, so it’s easy to find and replace. The 18Wh Lithium-ion battery, as announced by JBL for up to 6 hours of operation, fully charged time takes about 3.5 hours. That is not impressive battery life because long trips can last all day from morning to late at night, and there is not always available power around to charge the battery.

At this price, JBL PartyBox On-The-Go shows that this is a portable karaoke speaker worth the price it owns. The strength of this speaker is its neat, portable design, IPX4 water resistance, and sturdy strap that includes a handy bottle opener. RGB LED lights to dance to the music for a more “exciting” party. Diverse control button system, can adjust bass, treble, echo for the microphone. The sound quality is strong, vibrant; two microphones come with good quality, reproduce clear and warm vocals.

The drawback of On-The-Go is the battery life; 6 hours is a bit low for a portable karaoke speaker model, the charging speed is not high. At the same time, the slot for tablets and phones is quite short, not to fit if placing tablets of 9.7 inches or more horizontally, which is also a factor that users need to consider.
