Open the box

In 2019, Mee Audio switched to using a new design for its case, which looks very modern and new.

We can still open the box like a butterfly. The inner box also introduces how to control the headphones, with operations including stopping, playing music, increasing or decreasing the volume, calling Siri virtual assistant or Google. This is a very complete control system, not inferior to the expensive Sennheiser Momentum TW pair.

One point worth mentioning is that the Mee X10 has an independent music playing time of about 4.5 hours, but up to 23 hours if used with the charger box. This is a very impressive number, during use (over 1 week) I only have to charge the headset once, even though I listen to music a lot every day.

Design

Mee is a firm of simplicity, it does not create fancy products but opts for them to be a minimalist, unspecified look and focus on sound development. The Mee X10 was also built with the same philosophy, with both the charger case and headphones made of 1-color hard plastic – its version here is black, but there’s a Navy blue version.

The headset is designed to be worn vertically, and is small enough to fit into your ear and never cause a bit of aggression. This is one of the best True Wireless designs I’ve ever used, on par with the Sony WH-1000X pair. The earpiece is also equipped with IPX5 waterproof standard to serve people who use headphones to listen to music while exercising.

2 external control buttons are hidden in 2 small Mee Audio logos. The fact that the headset is full of controls is a plus, but the company uses physical buttons, so when we use it we still have to press the earpiece to the ear, not as convenient as the touch control of the TW Momentum pair, so I hope that in the second version, the company will switch to that type.

Overall, the design of the Mee X10 pair can be encapsulated by one word: Practical – not really beautiful, not colorful but actually used, it is still very good, creating high convenience for user.

Experience

The biggest highlight of the Mee Audio X10 is its mid-range pricing, but is equipped with the latest generation Bluetooth 5.0 standard. This generation allows users to make phone calls on both sides of the ear, ie hearing the voice of the other end of the line will be transmitted to both ears rather than one side as before, along with the other end also hears the sound of both speakers.

With Bluetooth 5.0, latency and stability are well guaranteed. When using, I only lose music when placing the headset too far from the music source, or blocked by many other electronic devices, but under normal use conditions do not suffer. Latency is still present because no pair of wireless headphones does not have latency, but is reduced to a minimum and can be used to watch movies.

What makes me excited is the sound quality, because Mee Audio has never let me down by the sound quality. The Mee Audio X10 really achieved this expectation, when equipped with a Mee sound quality, still has the full range of details and soundstage standards.

The bass band is pushed slightly above the average like any pair of Mee headphones, but is played well. The sub bass section just touches and then interrupts, leaving no annoying little bass tail. Billy Joel’s “We didn’t never start the fire” kept the tempo fast, with a high, neat and clean punch. The high bass part is still a bit attached to the mid, but only enough to transmit the warmth, not the “cover” form of the singer’s voice.

The X10 sound quality is a bit dark, and the mid section also shows this characteristic. Diana Krall’s voice in Feels like home is dark, warm and a bit more subtle than the accent. Like Mee’s other pair of headphones, X10’s vocalist is not in the form of ‘standout’ like the pair of bright sounding headphones, but towards the easy listening for a long time. I can listen to Joanna Wang’s Ballad or Jazz songs for hours without feeling tired.

Mee’s recent pair of headphones have significantly increased treble, no longer so short of the first generation. Because the Mee X10 was released this year, it also received this upgrade, with the treble having an average amount, the brightness is good enough to create a highlight for the song. I still appreciate the high treble of the M6 PRO pair, but the X10 can be considered sufficient

Epilogue

The most impressive point of Mee Audio is the uniformity of the products, when the company constantly creates pair of headphones in the same direction of sound quality, along with the finishing is in good form. The Mee Audio X10 is no exception, this is Mee’s first True Wireless headset, but still meets its standards: the design is not colorful but solid, high stability.
