amazon Ninja Foodi Digital Air Fry reviews
Fried foods are among those temptations that just add extra inches to your waist, and fried food couldn’t be more irresistible. Fortunately, the air fryer is a great tool that, arguably, can help one cook a very small bit healthier fried food than usual. The air-frying rage has reached its peak in recent times.
Ninja now spotted the air fryer trend and looked to put their spin on it. They created a countertop convection oven, toaster, and dehydrator entitled Ninja Foodi Digital Air Oven, which I had the opportunity to try.
When I first opened the Ninja Foodi Digital Air Oven, I noticed it wasn’t too big. It’s only about 20 inches by 15 inches by 7.5 inches and fits in a nook on my desk. It comes with a nonstick plate, as well as an air fryer. It also flips up on its back so that it can be stored inconspicuously.
The Ninja Foodi Digital Air Oven has an air=fry function, but it also has an air grill, dehydrate, keep warm, toast (up to nine slices at a time), and bread function. You can also control the time and temperature settings in these functions. Plus, the oven is ready to use out of the box, so I’m ready to cook.
Leftover fries, pizza
The first thing I cooked in the Foodi oven was a batch of frozen fries. I preheated the oven, and it was ready for use before I could finish placing the frozen fries in the tray. I coated the fries in a little olive oil spray, and after about 20 minutes, I had my fries. They’re better than fries but not as good as fried (like the ones you get at McDonald’s).
I took it a step further (hey, why not go out and destroy my diet?), and I decided to add cheese and bacon to my pile of crisps. I put the cheese and covered fries back in the Foodi oven, air-bake, and after 3 minutes, I had a plate of bacon and cheese fries that looked delicious.
A few days later, I had leftovers from the pizza I ordered the day before and decided to reheat my leftovers in the Foodi oven. Now, this is gluten-free pizza, often terrific recovery. If I put it in the microwave, I get a soggy triangular mess that closely resembles pizza.
It is a matter of perspective. The pizza is absolutely great held back in the Foodi Oven under toasting. The cheese melts like a charm, and the crust achieves crispiness. As for wings, I air fried them to reheated them-from somehow ended up quite alright.
Something a little healthier?
Now, I wasn’t interested in cooking a healthy meal in the Digital Oven. But hey, what the hell is that? Foodi includes a recipe guide and other instructions for use. The tutorial talks about making meals on the pan. Choose a protein, vegetable, and starch, season, stir the ingredients, and cook to make a pan meal.
I tried creating a pan plate of chicken and broccoli. I cut the chicken breasts into cubes, placed the frozen broccoli on the pan, seasoned with garlic and lemon, and cooked it at 400 degrees on baking air for 20 minutes. It turned out to be delicious, but my only complaint is that the plate pan only holds enough food for three, or perhaps four, to eat very small meals.
Anything for dessert?
D’oh! You can theorize desserts-high muffins, cookies, and cakes-in the Foodi oven. I made a round of chocolate chip cookies in much the same way as I melted them in a conventional oven. Although I did lower the temperature a bit, they were cooked faster. Unfortunately, I can only do one batch at a time because the oven is small.
