The reason I rate Roborock Q7 Max as a mid-range robot worth buying is that it has an extremely good vacuuming ability, which I emphasize is extremely good. This robot has a suction power of 4200 Pa, almost twice that of the Roborock S7 (2500 Pa), and is higher than all competing products from other brands. Robots of the same price range from rival Ecovacs usually only have a suction power of 2600 – 3000 Pa.

In two weeks of actual use, I found the Q7 Max to work effectively on the most difficult surface with any robot vacuum, which is carpet. Most of the hair left on the carpet by the cat is cleaned by the robot. It is worth mentioning that many mid-range robots I have experienced before have not done well on this surface. Strong suction is a necessary condition for effective carpet suction because any robot now has the feature of automatically increasing suction when detecting the carpet.

The carpet surface is like that, hard floor surfaces like wood or tile are not a problem with the Q7 Max anymore. Even the sunflower seeds, rice, or corn I sprinkled on the floor to challenge were sucked up by the Q7 Max.

On the control app from your phone, you can adjust 4 levels of suction power: silent, balanced, turbo, and maximum. However, most of the time I use the Q7 Max in balanced mode. This is the mode where I find the robot to suck effectively on all types of floor surfaces while the noise level is moderate, not as noisy as the Turbo and Max modes.

In balanced mode, I found the robot emits a noise level of about 57dB, equivalent to the noise we normally sit and talk about. However, the Turbo and Max modes are quite loud due to the strong suction, 60dB to 69dB respectively. Of course, in practice, I rarely use Turbo and Max modes.

This robot also has a mopping function, but the wiping mechanism is simply dragging the rag, not vibrating or wiping like the high-end models. The function of lifting the rag when it meets the carpet is also only available for the Roborock S7 series. So the mopping function is just an extra feature of the Q7 Max. If you want a really good cleaning effect, you can consider Roborock S7 or S7 MaxV.

That said, the cleaning function of the Q7 Max also has a good point that the use is very flexible. You can temporarily turn off the mopping function to only vacuum or adjust the low, medium, and high mopping water levels, or customize the water pull bar from level 1 to level 30. On average, I found the amount of water to be just right, only slightly damp when mopping on wooden floors.

Roborock Q7 Max uses a combined dust container. Although combined, both dust and water containers have a large capacity. The 470ml dust container is enough to hold dust from a few days to a week depending on the area. With an apartment of 85 square meters and a real suction area of ​​about 45 square meters, I found this dust box can hold the amount of dust that can be sucked for about 1 week. With the mopping function, the 350ml water tank is also enough to wipe twice for my 85-square meter apartment at a medium water level.

With a 5200 mAh battery, I found that every time I clean the 85-meter apartment, only about 20% of the battery is drained.
