SeeAudio Yume

SeeAudio is a new brand that continues to break into today’s crowded Chi-Fi market. SeeAudio has been a huge hit in the domestic market, and now they are expanding internationally.

Yume (short for “dream” in Japanese) is the name of the headset we will review in this article. It is a hybrid headset with 1DD / 2BA priced at $ 169. That is the most competitive segment today, with a series of names also coming from China.

Fortunately, SeeAudio has the advantage of experience and the support of one of the most famous Chi-fi brands: qdc. But whether this new entrant into the market will make its mark, let’s take a look.

BOXING AND ACCESSORIES

SeeAudio Yume comes packaged in an anime-style box with their mascot character on the front, similar to Moondrop.

On the back, you have the specifications and images that describe the frequency response of the Yume. Included inside are the following accessories:

– Eartips included

– Headphone box

– 2-pin wire 0.78mm jack 3.5mm

– Anime sticker set

DESIGN AND FINISHING

As someone who is quite fond of anime, I was undeniably impressed with Yume’s design. Housing by SeeAudio Yume is a glossy acrylic material with a beautiful blend of green and purple sparkles.

SeeAudio’s logo in the glossy emulsion is placed in the same position as the qdc ear models.

The ergonomic design of the SeeAudio Yume is superb: compact, grippy, and extremely comfortable. In general, the appearance design of SeeAudio Yume is a challenge that the company has done very well, luxurious and sophisticated.

As for the accompanying conductor, the company equips SeeAudio Yume with a very good 99.999% purity OCC copper core wire in this price range. The 4-core braided rope is quite soft with a beautiful transparent shell.

The connector and connector are covered with metal firmly. There is nothing to criticize about this wire of SeeAudio.

CONFIGURATION AND SPECIFICATIONS

Inside, SeeAudio Yume is equipped with one dynamic driver for the bass and 2 BA drivers for the mid and treble ranges.

The dynamic driver on SeeAudio Yume has a diameter of 9.2mm. Equipped with the latest “liquid silicone” diaphragm technology. The silicone diaphragm is extremely unaffected by temperature changes to withstand all weather conditions and magnetic fields. Ensures extremely low distortion and high dynamics.

The remaining 2 BA drivers come from Knowles (USA) to ensure the quality and stability of the product.

To combine the three drivers, SeeAudio also uses LFC (Low-Frequency Filter Conversion) technology into the headset to filter the low-frequency range so that the overall sound is not encroached on by the dynamic power driver. This technology makes the sound seamless and smooth.

Specifications:

– Impedance: 32 Ohms

– Sensitivity : 106dB +- 1dB SPL/mW

– Frequency response: 20Hz – 20kHz

– THD: <2%

– Noise reduction: 26dB

MIXING

According to the parameters, it can be seen that SeeAudio Yume is a headset that is not too difficult to pull. The reality, however, is another matter. Many users around the world have agreed that this headset depends a lot on the source. A clean, strong source can help the SeeAudio Yume sound fuller and warmer.

SOUND QUALITY

SeeAudio Yume is introduced as being tuned according to the Harman 2020 curve graph. That is the type of negative graph followed by many Chi-fi brands, typically Moondrop. Although it is tuned according to the standard graph, not all headphones have the same sound.

The SeeAudio Yume has a balanced and airy sound, the kind of sound I’ve never heard before in this price range. I’m not surprised by this sound, but the more I listen to it, the more interesting SeeAudio Yume has both pros and cons.

Bass

Although taking the Harman curve as the standard, the bass range of SeeAudio Yume is not much in volume. Sub-bass seems a bit lacking even when the Bass Boost mode is turned on on the music player. In return, the mid-bass is tight and accurate with good texture. Of course, this bass range will not be for bass heads, but it is very suitable for those who like relaxation and a long listening experience.

Mid

That is probably the best and most valuable sound range on SeeAudio Yume. Crispy, clean, and clear. Yin colors are neither warm nor cold and tend to move forward. There’s quite a bit of energy in the midrange that makes the instruments and vocals come alive. The female voice is performed extremely well by benefiting from the emphasized high mid. Experiment with Yao Si Ting’s voice in Scarborough Fair for a brilliant performance like a breeze. Overall, the mid-range of SeeAudio Yume is made very airy.

The downside of this range is that the notes don’t feel full in most musical instruments. The male voice is sometimes a bit thin but not too annoying.

Treble

SeeAudio Yume’s Treble is energetic and very airy. Focusing more on the low-treble makes the treble sound more jingle, more joyful for the whole track. The notes sound very crisp and can sometimes be a bit sharp on bright tracks. The details of the instruments in this range are well represented.

Details and Soundstage

SeeAudio Yume’s detail is very good in this price range. It shows even the details in the music clearly, such as clicking or touching the strings.

The stage space is quite large, but the depth and height are average because the bass range lacks volume. In return, the ability to separate the instrument of SeeAudio Yume is very good, thanks to the openness in the mid and treble. Instruments are reproduced with precise placement in the stage.

EPILOGUE

SeeAudio Yume is a well-designed, well-finished headset. Characteristic sound with balance, delicate details, and good separation. The bass range is also detailed and bouncy but lacks depth due to the weak sub-bass in volume. In summary, SeeAudio Yume is indeed a very good headset in terms of performance on price. It will be a perfect choice for those who like to relax and fly in the sound.
