amazon TRN EMX reviews

In the price segment of more than $45 with wired headphones, we often think of inear headphones. As for arbuds, it is quite rare to find any headphone models in this segment. TRN EMX is an exception, with a price 4 times higher than its junior EMA. Is this earbud model attractive enough to users? Let’s explore this headset.

TRN EMX

Before talking about the main character, let’s take a look at TRN EMX’s accessories.

Comes with TRN EMX is a very high quality wire, the core material is pure copper and silver plated to increase transmission ability, moreover, the connector is also heat-shrinkable so you can wear it around your ear like other models. IEM, the jack head is designed as a module to easily replace different jack sizes. In addition to the default 3.5 jack, the company also gives users two more jack heads, 2.5mm BAL and 4.4mm BAL. This detail is usually only seen on high-end headphones from Fiio or DUNU, TRN has been too generous with users. In addition to the wires, indispensable are pairs of foam and finally a fabric bag to store the headphones when not in use.

TRN shows seriousness and care for its products through product design. TRN EMX has a housing part that is precisely CNC’d from aluminum and has a rough surface, each seam is very tight and precise. In my experience, the perfection of TRN EMX is often only encountered on products in the high-end segment.

Regarding configuration, TRN continues to be generous with users when equipping the EMX with a Dynamic driver with a diameter of 14.2mm with a dome membrane covered with beryllium, a precious metal with physical properties of being durable and hard. Often used on high-end headphones from Fiio or DUNU, typically the top in-ear Fiio FD7 costs nearly $600.

TRN EMX has impedance and sensitivity of 45Ohm and 120dB respectively, so it is not too difficult to pair this headset. Of course, the better the source, the better the sound quality will be. The source I use is the Fiio KA2 to take advantage of the 4.4mm jack. This dongle optimizes mobility, price, and has plenty of technical specifications to pair with EMX. As soon as I opened the box, the sound of the TRN EMX did not really satisfy me, the sound was buzzing and squishy, the Bass was very shallow and lacking in power, but everything changed completely when I burned in the TRN EMX for about 50-60 hours. TRN EMX’s sound quality after burning in is overall quite thick and warm, the Bass range is neat and tight, focusing a lot on Up-Bass which is often found on ear-buds. The Mid range is thick and warm, very flattering on vocals, detail and clarity are on a very different level compared to low-range earbud models, especially when you provide a good enough source like high-end DAC/Amps level, TRN EMX’s Mid range will shine even more. The high range of this headset not as excellent as the midrange. You will hardly feel an explosion when the Cymbal sounds at the end of a section in a symphony track. Soundstage is always the strength of earbuds compared to in-ears, TRN EMX is no exception, the soundstage is quite wide in width but with depth and height, the 3D feeling is not as satisfying as it is Fullsize models.

To sum up, I think TRN EMX is a headphone worth playing, it will be for those who are fans of lyrical music, not too concerned about brand factors. The advantages that must be mentioned of this headset are its high-end design, rich accessories, warm sound quality, easy to listen to and easy to combine. There are also minus points, but looking back at the price of $50, I decided I’m not going to criticize anymore.
