Design

TRN TA1 Max has a more compact design than the previous TA1. The overall housing part is a cylindrical block with the nozzle tube tilted at an angle of 15 degrees

The exterior is highlighted with X-shaped details and 4 soundproof slots for Driver Dynamic, this design reminds me of the Fiio FD3, however, the TRN TA1 Max has a different finish when using the material is aluminum, coated with roughness, the finish is not to be discussed when details such as the seams are made very tight and seamless, giving the feeling that this is an expensive headset model.

The conductor part is also focused by TRN when using silver-plated copper and braided together in the form of 4 cores, this is quite similar to the high-end models of Final audio, of course, the quality will be very different due to the price difference, it doesn’t matter because my initial feeling about the conductor of the TRN TA1 Max is very good, the ruggedness and aesthetics are excellent.

Sound quality

In the look and touch part, for me, the TRN TA1 Max did a great job, and the sound quality didn’t have many expectations at first because Chinese brands like Moondrop or Blon have long made the headphone segment. The cheap price is saturated due to the sound quality on the extremely competitive price, but when I just wore the TRN TA1 Max for about 5 minutes, I was surprised, this headset has a sound quality that doesn’t go in the right direction sophisticated, technical but brings a comfortable experience for listeners, with rich music and easy listening. The bass of TRN TA1 Max hits strong, the most abundant amount is in the Mid-bass, however, the speed is not very good due to the slow decay, this type of bass will suit slow tempo songs, and other possible variations “hard-core” type like Heavy Rock or Metal, the bass of TRN TA1 Max will still be a bit weak. The mid of this headset is thick and warm but still has good detail, not necessarily in the sweet and smooth direction like Shure SE215 or ATH’s IM line, the high range of TRN TA1 Max is a bit gentle for personal taste. If only TRN had added a little more energy in Low-Treble, the overall sound of TA1 Max would be much brighter and more personal.

The soundstage of this headset is also in the top form in the price range of less than $45, I think this is due to the design with many sound escape slots on the front of the housing.

TRN TA1 Max is a very good headset in its price range, it will be very suitable for those who like to listen to slow tempo music, press a lot on Vocal, or music with majestic sounds like Epic or Soundtrack.
