Truthear products have recently received many positive reviews from users and famous reviewers. The most prominent among them is the Truthear Hexa headset. Positioned in the entry-level segment like Zero and Hola, Hexa is equipped with a more powerful driver cluster and comes with better technical sound quality.
Packaging and accessories
The most notable highlight of Truthear Hexa comes from the cover box designed in anime style. The image of an adorable loli schoolgirl holding an umbrella is printed prominently and clearly on the front. Right next to it is the product name HEXA. It is this detail that has helped Hexa receive a sympathetic view from the majority of audiophiles today, especially music lovers. Information about Hexa’s sound chart and detailed technical specifications will be on the back of the cover box.
Accessories included with the Truthear Hexa headphones will include:
- 1 cable
- 3 pairs of wide tube silicone eartips size S/M/L
- 3 pairs of narrow tube silicone eartips size S/M/L

Design and wearing experience
Unlike Zero and Hola, Truthear Hexa has a housing designed in a more angular shape. But to ensure comfort when worn on the ear, the manufacturer has very slightly rounded the edges on the housing. The entire housing will be made of matte black plastic and 3D printed to increase the accuracy of each line. Meanwhile, the faceplate is a small piece of aluminum machined by CNC technology then undergoes anodization and sandblasting. The final finishing step is to fasten the faceplate to the housing via a small screw. The faceplate on the right ear is clearly printed with the Truthear brand name.
Hexa continues to use the 2-pin connector and right above the connector is a small vent. Truthear Hexa cables have a quite slim but sturdy design due to the use of twisted braid structure. There are 4 wire cores in total and they are all made of silver-plated OFC copper. Gold plating the 3.5mm jack will increase connection sensitivity and limit oxidation. The connector on the cable is clearly labeled L/R to help users easily distinguish the left and right ears.
Actual experience shows that Hexa offers a pretty good wearing experience. The compact housing along with the thin and light cable helps Hexa create an extremely good ear fit if the user has a small or medium ear shape. For those with large ear shapes, use with size L silicone tips to increase the fit.
Driver configuration and sound quality
Different from Zero and Hola, Hexa is favored by Truthear when equipped with driver clusters with hybrid configuration, in which:
- The 10mm dynamic driver is responsible for reproducing the bass range. This driver has an LCP-shaped speaker membrane, uses dual N52 magnetic circuits and a special PU suspension system
- The remaining two strips will be handled by 3 BA drivers, in which 2 BA drivers reproduce the mid range and 1 BA driver reproduces the treble range
Thus, Hexa is integrated with up to 4 drivers in each ear. In the entry-level segment, very few headphone models possess such a huge driver configuration. According to the specifications printed on the packaging, Truthear Hexa operates at an impedance of 20.5 Ohm, has a frequency response range of 20Hz – 20kHz and a sensitivity of 120dB.
Different from Hola or Zero, Truthear Hexa’s sound quality is a great blend of neutrality and a bit of warmth. This makes Hexa bring more comfort when listeners enjoy music for a long period of time continuously. The bass range on Hexa is focused heavily on the subbass. Besides high accuracy, the subbass also has good response speed, fast decay and is quite tightly controlled. As you get closer to the midbass, the amount of bass will gradually decrease so as not to overwhelm the mid range. This makes the Hexa’s bass a bit less attractive than the Zero.
The mid range is tuned in a neutral direction, only slightly warm, sounds clean, clear and clear. The upper mid part is forward but not too much, this makes the female voice more prominent. The low mid section is neat but still thick enough to represent the deep male voice well. Compared to the male voice, the female voice sounds more emotional and has better presence. The details in the song (from vocals to instruments) are layered very well and create separation from each other. The mid range is the sound range that shows Hexa’s technical expertise.
The transitions from the upper mid to the treble range are very smooth and do not cause a metallic feeling. The extension in the treble range is well processed, creating a feeling of airiness and openness. The sib sound will appear in some music segments, but overall it does not cause discomfort to the listener.
Hexa is also one of the few headphones in the entry-level segment that possesses extremely impressive technical characteristics. The soundstage is moderately open in both width and depth. The sound imaging and very detailed layer separation allow Hexa to clearly delineate the vocal and instrumental parts. These elements will become even more perfect if Hexa is combined with the iBasso DC03 Pro dongle.
Compare
Vs Moondrop Aria
While Truthear Hexa uses a hybrid driver configuration (including 1 dynamic driver and 3 BA drivers), Aria is only equipped with 1 dynamic driver. Although these two headphones have quite similar sound charts, in reality, both have very different sound qualities.
The Aria’s bass range has less extension but more volume. With such adjustment, the bass on the Aria sounds more attractive and suitable for more music genres. In addition, Aria also has better textured bass and faster response speed.
Due to the thicker low mid and more detailed upper mid, the vocals and instruments are presented more harmoniously on Aria. However, when considering resolution and layer separation ability, Hexa is superior. The treble range on the Aria sounds more lively and tinkling, while the Hexa has a smoother treble range. Aria’s soundstage is more expansive and has better positioning accuracy.
Vs TinHiFi T3 Plus
The T3 Plus also uses only one dynamic driver and this headset has a stronger bass range when compared to the Hexa. Although it has good sharpness and contrast, the low mid part of the T3 Plus does not have the ability to transition as well as Truthear Hexa. Both have good layering capabilities and this allows Hexa and T3 Plus to express extremely clear, outstanding vocals.
Both headphones have a smooth, lively treble range, but the Hexa will have a little better linearity. The soundstage on the T3 Plus has greater depth and fidelity, along with superior sound imaging. However, Hexa possesses the ability to separate instruments in more detail and clarity. The positioning capabilities on the two headphones are the same.
Time passes and more and more quality headphone models in the entry-level segment are released. This makes the headphone market more exciting, listeners will have more and better choices.
