In-ear wired earphones, wired over-ear and wireless over-the-ear earbuds offer very different audio experiences. So what if we combined these three into the same single product, plus the design of passive noise, surround sound, …? If you have such questions then you can find answers with Volant – the first 3 in 1 headphone in the world can be swapped between the three types of headphones. Currently, the Volant headset project is being raised on Kickstarter.
It is difficult to imagine how a headphone is inserted into the ear just outside the ear. Volant Sound has developed such a headset, and explains that: first of all, an in-ear earphone with normal wires as a headset. However, it can fit into the ‘frame’ of the headset ear and then, will turn into a wired over ear. Finally, the third feature is that Volant can turn into a wireless over-ear headset after converting to a headphone shape.
You can imagine Volant initially as an in-ear earpiece, after adding the ‘accessory’ to an over-ear earpiece and if you do not want to wear it, you can use it. Wire over bluetooth connection always. The point of ear of this ear is the transition from in-ear to over-ear. The company says that the ‘over-ear’ chassis contains a 40mm driver, and when the in-ear housing is inserted the audio signal will be transmitted via a proprietary technology to the larger ear buds. Only play music as an ear ejector but also support the surround quality.
Besides combining in-ear and over-ear on the same product, Volant also has the ability to connect wirelessly to other devices via Bluetooth 4.0 aptX, a 300 mAh rechargeable battery for the total time. Up to 10 hours of music playback, 5 days of standby time and 2 hours of full charge via the microUSB port. In addition to integrating the mic, Volant also has a passive noise-cancellation design … which many other models available on the market have but not the ability to ‘transform’ like Volant.
