amazon AKG N60NC reviews
AKG is one of the earliest known earphones manufacturer in the world, and is one of the oldest manufacturers in the world, after a long period of losses, the company has decided to close its production plant in the yard – Austria. One of the reasons for the decline of the company is that the design and sound is very classic, technically very high but is no longer suitable for the new generation of music.
Not wanting to lose the name that has been building for nearly 70 years, AKG sold itself to Harman / Kardon, and later became Samsung’s “nephew”. And during this time, AKG has been completely reoriented in product design, most clearly expressed in the “N” series.
The N60NC is the latest pair of headphones that showcases AKG’s desire to innovate, a product that, if not sold to Harman / Kardon, is unlikely to be produced!
The N60NC is a pair of earphones, which means that the ear is still holding the ear but small enough to hear anywhere. The earpiece is made of plastic, but it is made of a metal frame, so it is not too loose.
The ear cushions are made of soft leather, which is very thick and feels comfortable, far better than the cheap AKG K420 earphones.
Two volume control buttons are located high, near the ear-cup coupling.
The on / off switch is integrated with a blue LED to indicate the status of the connection.
And of course there are 2 ports for music and micro USB charging. N60NC does not have any water resistance standard so the company also … do not add rubber door for this product.
The N60NC is AKG’s first on-ear earphone with active noise-canceling technology. And through this experience, this feature works very well. Sucking the earphones hugged the ears so the passive noise resistance is quite good, and if enabled more active noise, do not hesitate to wear headphones in the street.
But the N60NC has a downside: it can not control the noise level, which new Sony headphones can do. Therefore, in the low noise, the user must still be exposed to the highest level of noise, which can cause tinnitus if long hearing.
As a user and favorite of AKG’s earphones, I’m familiar with the acoustic signature of the company. K612 Pro, K701 or K501 are clean, airy and light, suitable for Jazz, Ballad light and lyrical. But after being bought by Harman / Kardon, AKG’s style changed a lot, especially in the “N” series such as the N60NC.
The big difference and most welcome is in the bass part. Old AKG earphones have low-end bass, with high-power amplifiers for the best quality. Go to the pair of K612 Pro I use, is a relatively new pair and has been added bass still not strong and strong drum sound, so not really good when listening to Dance, Pop. N60NC is quite the opposite, the headset is quite a lot of bass, the volume is large, so the drum always feel full of energy. This is a big plus for new music listeners, as Childish Gambino’s “This is America” is becoming more “real”.
The strength of the AKG headphones lies in the midrange, with high detail. N60NC is equipped with new sound but still not lose this strength. Female jazz singer Alexis Cole has a thicker heart for every light on Broadway than any of her other headphones, but is still high and holds good details. The low-mid tone is quite rich, while the high-mid is cut off compared to the “K” earphones, so there is absolutely no sibalance. The vocalist of the N60NC is different from the first, but still very easy to hear and a good quality sound.
With 2 bands of bass and middle are thick, the high band is not too much land anymore. Equally speaking, the high pitch sounds are sufficiently high, again high enough to always make a full sensation, but there is no space to express freely.
