amazon AMD APU A10-6790K reviews
The A10-6790K is a third-generation APU with a Piledriver-based microarchitecture, 32nm High-K Metal, and integrated Radeon HD 8670D graphics providing better performance than the Trinity APU.
The A10-6790K is in the premium segment of the desktop lineup and performs well behind the A10-6800K model. The overall design of the two APUs is based on the Piledriver microarchitecture, equipped with four non-lock multiplier cores, 4MB L2 cache memory and 100W power consumption (TDP). The HD 8670D integrated graphics runs at 844 MHz, has 384 stream processing units, 24 texture texture units, and 8 color ROP units.
The difference is that the A10-6790K has a slightly lower clock speed, defaults to 4.0GHz and reaches 4.3GHz thanks to Turbo Core technology and only supports dual-channel DDR3 1.866 GHz RAM. Meanwhile, the A10-6800K runs at 4.1 GHz and can accelerate to 4.4 GHz when accelerated and supports dual-channel DDR3 bus 2.133 GHz.
Basically, APU Richland is considered a refreshing upgrade from the Trinity chip with its Piledriver microarchitecture design and 32nm High-K Metal Gate SOI manufacturing technology. Despite the same power consumption (TDP), Richland has a higher clock core and works better than Trinity. In addition, Richland APUs with integrated graphics processor Radeon HD 8000 series also contribute significantly to improve graphics processing power.
Performance
Test Lab conducted a trial and compared the performance of two APU models in the same line of the A10-6790K and A10-6800K on the GIGABYTE GA-F2A85X-UP4 motherboard platform, Windows 8. In addition to the overall performance benchmarking tools PCMark 8 and 3DMark for graphics performance benchmarking, Test Lab also uses a number of detailed tests of CPU and GPU computing power and the ability to “battle” the game. Of the test configuration at 1280×720 pixel resolution (HD 720p) and 1920×1080 pixel (HD 1080p).
Specifically with the 3DMark Cloud Gate test, the Richland A10-6790K scored 3,018 Physics scores, 4,463 Graphics scores and 4,033 overall performance scores. With Cinebench R11.5 testing capabilities of 3D rendering of CPUs and integrated graphics, the test configuration scored 3.53 multi-core CPUs and 41.9 frames per second in the OpenGL test.
With PCMark 05, you can perform parallel processing of compressed / compressed files, encrypt / decrypt data, compress audio files and compress video files, The score for each test of A10-6790K is lower than the 6800K from 3.9 to 23.4%.
For the DiRT 3 and Alien Vs Predator 1.03, A10-6790K also achieved good results, the ability to process images in the game beyond the “mold” 30 fps at 720p resolution with moderate graphics settings, reducing mode. 2xAA image stabilizer and even DiRT 3 can still run smoother at up to 1920×1080 pixels.

Electric used
Test the power consumption of the test configuration (not including the monitor) through the 3DMark graphics test, the system power is recorded through the Logger Lite software in normal environment (about 30 – 31 degrees Celsius) .
In idling mode, the test configuration power of both APU A10-6790K and 6800K samples was not significantly different, only 1.7W (average). However, in 3DMark graphics tests, the A10-6790K consumes up to 162W while the APU with the 6800K series is only 150.5W (the highest value).
Considering the power consumption, the two APU Richland models have no improvement over the previous generation. This also reflects the fact that AMD’s processors are still focused on improving performance, while Intel’s Haswell processor has shifted to the mobile direction, better controlling the power consumption of the chips.
General assessment
Overall, the scores for the A10-6790K in most tests are lower than the A10-6800K. This is perfectly normal because of the same high-end segment in the desktop product line, but this APU model has clock speeds and a slightly lower price than the A10-6800K.
The graphics performance of the A10-6790K is quite impressive, it can play some heavy games at 1280×720 pixel resolution with average graphics quality, even with some specific games like DiRT 3 complete All smooth running when the resolution is pushed up to 1920×1080 pixels, set to 2xAA antialiasing mode. This is also good news for users when the cost is not too large, relative performance, suitable for learning, work and entertainment.
