Open the box:
The box of the ASUS ROG Strix GTX 1080 11Gbps OC on my hand today almost no change compared to the 10Gbps version except the 11Gbps GDDR5X insisted that the memory chip has been upgraded.
As the highest end product line of ASUS, the GTX 1080 11Gbps is in favor of two-pack packaging. Inside the packaging, the product information is black with the Strix logo. Open the lid, we have a small box containing the driver disk and the instruction manual is placed neatly in the middle of the protective foam.
The GTX 1080 11Gbps is packaged exactly like the 10Gbps version with the thick foam around to provide the best protection. This is almost standard on all ROG Strix graphics cards.

Performance:
The gaming capabilities of any GTX 1080 are unquestionable. With the powerful GP104 GPU and up to 8GB of internal memory, this graphics card is ready to battle in any resolution of 4K or below. However, if you want to be smoother, 2K is still a more secure option. Temporary 4K is still the sanctuary of GTX 1080 Ti or higher. However, what we are more interested in in evaluating performance is probably the difference between the 11Gbps and 10Gbps versions.
The graphics score in the 3DMark TimeSpy’s test tool is 7482 points. Compared to the graphics of the GT 1030 that I have the opportunity to write a review recently, it is more than seven times. One point to keep in mind is that because of the experimental configuration using the Ryzen CPU, the results may be slightly affected by the software developer’s optimization capabilities.
With the GPGPU tool of the AIDA64 software suite, we can see that the read-write speed has increased significantly compared to its predecessor. The computing performance is almost unchanged by the GPU remains unchanged.
The Strix GTX 1080 11Gbps also scores pretty impressive at the extreme 1080p setting of the Unigine Superposition. This is not surprising, as the GTX 1080 is only marginally better than the GTX 1080 Ti and TITAN Xp.

Deus Ex: Mankind Divided can be considered a very popular game for hardware testing thanks to its very intuitive benchmarking engine. Again, the difference in average FPS and minimum FPS is almost nonexistent. With a minimum FPS margin of just 2, I find this may even be a mistake in the testing process.
At 1080p, game titles like Doom can not be a problem for a graphics monster like the GTX 1080. Therefore, the maximum FPS level – 200 is also the average FPS of the game. Of course, sometimes in scenes with large environments and lots of freaks, FPS can be a bit tilted, but it’s still hard to recognize on the 144-o’clock display.
In another game Hitman with a variety of benchmark tools also shows us that to make it difficult for the GTX 1080 is a pretty impossible task at 1080p resolution. In this test, we again see the performance of the GTX 1080 11Gbps is a bit more, but not significantly compared to the 10Gbps.
GTA V is similar to setting max settings at 1080p resolution. It’s hard to deny the difference between the new and old versions of the GTX 1080, but the difference is too small.
In addition, I also enlisted in DotA 2 with this card. At 4K resolution, memory bandwidth seems to have helped FPS to be a little more stable. However, the average FPS also does not show the superiority of the 11Gbps version. As with all other ROG graphics cards, the Strix GTX 1080 11Gbps is also equipped with LED RGB system with 7 all effects. Temperature and power consumption:
The results after 15 minutes of running Furmark showed that the heat dissipation of the Strix GTX 1080 11Gbps is extremely impressive. The highest temperature is only 65W while the fan start temperature is 55 degrees. The power consumption of this card when running at full capacity only stopped at 200W. No matter which version of Founders Edition requires only one 8-pin power source, it’s enough to put aside the power required for the heat sink and light bulb, so that the user is able to overclock slightly. The card itself is OC, so overclocking does not really make sense. So, with a one-card system, real power 500W is the minimum you need to build your machine.
Conclude:
ASUS ROG Strix 1080 11Gbps OC is a powerful graphics card with enhanced memory chips as well as overclocked. Performance on games with AAA resolution of 2K or less is probably unquestionable.
