amazon Audioengine D2 reviews
Previously, the demand for wireless music in the home was always limited by factors such as CD quality (16bit / 44.1KHz), limited music player and system configuration wireless network. However, these limits have been quickly resolved as the market for high-end wireless digital audio codecs is increasing. One of the representatives of this product line is the Audioengine D2 Wireless DAC model from the American speaker manufacturer.
The Audioengine D2 Wireless DAC supports playback of 24bit / 96KHz audio sources over a wireless connection. This wireless DAC is well compatible with any music player on your PC and does not require any wireless connection setup for the device.
Basically, this wireless DAC is responsible for transmitting the audio signal from point A to point B via a 2.4GHz wireless connection. And of course, like any other wireless transmitter / receiver, Audioengine D2 also has two main components, each about twice as thick as a conventional optical drive. The two components of this wireless DAC are also named so that users are easily distinguishable from each other. The Audioengine D2 wireless transmitter is called the Sender and the receiver is called the receiver.
Similar to the Audioengine D1 compact USB DAC, Audioengine D2’s Sender also supports two digital audio inputs, USB and Optical. This means that users can connect Audioengine D2 Sender to PC via USB, or connect to sources equipped with optical as DVD / Bluray player.
On appearance, the Audioengine D2 Sender is slightly backward-looking compared to the USB DAC Audioengine D1 because the two digital audio inputs of this transmitter are centered on the front of the unit. This design detail, although comfortable for the user, is a bit more difficult if the device is connected to an optical source.
Inside the monolithic design of the Audioengine D2 Sender is the Texas Instruments USB 1020B controller chip that is commonly found in high-end DACs. The wireless DAC is also equipped with PCM1792 DAC audio processing circuitry with low noise and high detail, promising the best sound quality for the listener.

In addition to the main 5V DC power supply via the USB port, the Audioengine D2 Sender also has a 6V DC input power supply via the adapter provided when the user connects the device to the source via optical. Similar to the Audioengine D1 model, Audioengine D2 also supports plug ‘n play and is compatible with many different operating system platforms, users do not need to install any additional drivers for the device.
The unique feature of the Audioengine D2 is its ability to connect three receivers to the same firm simultaneously without interfering with other wiring devices. According to information from the company, Audioengine D2 uses “adaptive mode” for the receiver of audio signals from the USB port. With this mode, the data coming from the computer will be refined to minimize data loss.
Try connecting the Audioengine D2 Sender to the desktop via USB and the Audioengine D2 Receiver is connected to the Audioengine A5 + speaker system through the RCA output on the front of the unit. By default, the Audioengine D2 system is “paired” with each other, so you only need to power the receiver to use the wireless DAC. However, if you want to connect more with another Receiver (using a Sender), you must pair the two devices by using the “pair” button located on the front of both receivers / transmitters to manually compile.
During the connection process, we did not encounter any problems with Audioengine D2 as well as the speaker system.
