Corsair 4000X RGB – It can be said that Corsair is one of the big names in the accessory manufacturing village, which is still “working hard” to launch new products every year to satisfy customers’ needs.

After a while, the company continued to upgrade its gaming case lines in the mid-range segment with the Corsair 4000 Series Mid Tower series, which includes three versions with the same language design and features, but slightly different to serve the diverse needs of users.

The most expensive version of all three models is the Corsair 4000X RGB, which has a double-glazed design to display Corsair’s color lighting system and “heavy” fan for fans who like to show off light demonstrations.

As one of the three Corsair 4000 Series chassis products, the Corsair 4000X RGB is almost different from the Corsair 4000D Tempered Glass version introduced to readers a short time ago by the team.

Both have the standard Mid Tower size, so they share many similarities with the mid-range Corsair Carbide 275R version that the company launched in 2018.

It’s still unclear if Corsair will replace the Corsair Carbide 275R lineup with the Corsair 4000 Series chassis models, but both are priced similarly.

My’s first impression of this high-end case is the unity of design, forming a homogeneous whole at first glance with a seamless impressive black tone in all areas face of the chassis.

This design is somewhat similar to the MSI MPG GUNGNIR 100 when the side glass and front glass are both treated with dark colors, almost “matching” with the powder coating on the steel frame, not to mention the glass border area. It is also painted black with metal glass braces, so it is difficult to separate these two materials at first glance despite using the same Corsair 4000 Series cases, not much different from other products.

Different from the solid feeling with the “exposed” steel frame details from the Corsair 4000D Tempered Glass case model. The Corsair 4000X RGB brings a more luxurious feel but “fragile” when owning up to two glasses, including side glass like other versions and a front glass that replaces the plastic mask on the 4000D version too easily “show off” the cooling fans inside.

The top of the case also has a large AIO water cooling area with radiator sizes from 280mm to 360mm placed “out of phase” to one side. Thereby helping these “oversized” heatsinks not “squeeze” RAM and other plugs on the motherboard like some previous case designs were merely an area for ventilation fans.

That also shows that the popular trend of systems using AIO water cooling is gradually appearing, especially when new CPUs are being “crammed” with more and more cores with TDP (Thermal Power Designed) requiring “heavy” water coolers. The Corsair iCUE H150i RGB PRO XT with a new 360mm radiator is enough to cool off high-end overclocked CPUs that work for a long time.

Next to it are the standard I/O ports milled and engraved with precision, with buttons like Power and Reset designed to be “semi-submersible” with an extremely suitable size, creating a luxurious feeling for the user. Most notably, the USB Type C connector uses the USB 3.1 standard to support modern devices using this standard today fully.

The front plastic mask on the Corsair 4000D Tempered Glass version is also replaced by darkened tempered glass on the Corsair 4000X RGB with the same interchangeable mount mechanism.

Behind this glass is a black dust filter and three SP120 RGB PRO cooling fans manufactured by Corsair with AirGuide technology with speeds up to 1400rpm and 8-ball RGB LED backlighting instead of just one “smooth” fan on the 4000D version.

These three fans are connected to an iCUE Lighting Node CORE LED controller that can easily connect to the iCUE ecosystem for a uniform and spectacular light show across the system with controllability. Effects control for different fans and the ability to expand three more fans using iCUE software.

That is the detail that makes the Corsair 4000X RGB version the most expensive of the three Corsair 4000 Series cases because three SP120 RGB PRO fans and lighting controllers alone have a retail price of up to $80. Almost equal to the price of the cheapest Corsair 4000D Tempered Glass version of the entire product line.

The neat wiring with velcro cords and “troughs” are still Corsair’s signature, making power supply cord management simpler and easier.

It is a small pity that despite the same price as the cases in the mid-high-end segment, the wiring holes are still not equipped with anti-cut rubber rings like on the Corsair Carbide 275R or other models. Its higher-end cases are like the Corsair Crystal 680X Series RGB model.

The case has quite a few places to install hard drives, including two drives in the power supply area and 2 2.5mm hard drive racks behind the case. If you feel that’s not enough, you can buy additional rack accessories to mount two more hard drives on the “floor” of the case, bringing the total number of hard drives that can be mounted up to 6 drives. An impressive number for a Mid-Tower case of not too large size.

Similar to the Corsair 4000D Tempered Glass version, the Corsair 4000X RGB also has a slight minus point in the design of the glass splint on both sides, and the front is firmly glued to the side of the glass, not forming a splint to protect the glass edges as well as with some high-end case models.

The case’s back is also not much different from the Corsair 4000D Tempered Glass version. Standard slots can be manually opened and two vertical slots that allow users to stand up the graphics card through the phone via an adapter purchased separately.

It can be said that, although it is more expensive than the Corsair 4000D Tempered Glass version at $90, the upgrades of the Corsair 4000X RGB are very worthwhile. You can own a comprehensive lighting and cooling solution with a front glass design to easily “show off” at a much “soft” price than buying components and upgrading individually.

OVERVIEW

Overall, the Corsair 4000X RGB is a chassis model with a structure that is not much different from the Corsair 4000 Series product line; also, with a sturdy design with a steel frame, components mounting areas are arranged. The layout is neat and is a good foundation for a quality gaming case.

The upgrades to the front glass, cooling fan system, and light control system compared to the regular version Corsair 4000D Tempered Glass is extremely valuable when users only have to spend a small amount of money to receive these major upgrades. Almost “elevating” your PC system on par with products using cases in the high-end segment.
