Anker has slowly made a name for itself in the robot vacuum cleaner market, but the company that claims to be famous right now is offering affordable options. While some may be skeptical about the product’s longevity, especially when compared to some of the more notable players in the space with a solid track record, it’s worth keeping an eye on Anker as it’s growing gradually to make a name for itself.

It’s been a while since we reviewed Anker’s Eufy RoboVac 11S Max, a budget-friendly vacuum that’s not as smart as most of us would suspect but still manages to deliver a decent clean. However, here we are a month later, checking out the company’s latest offering, the Eufy RoboVac 15C Max.

One of our biggest complaints about the RoboVac 11S Max is that it lacks networking and app control. Well, it looks like it’s being addressed here with the RoboVac 15C Max. More importantly, however, only a small price increase has been resolved, making it still a relatively affordable option for those looking to dive into the expanding robovac market.

Low profile design

If you put the RoboVac 15C Max next to the 11S Max, most people won’t tell the two apart because their design looks identical. Anker hasn’t changed a thing here, and each vacuum boasts the same sleek look and shiny tempered glass top with blue accents along the edge. It’s an attractive design, not what you’d expect from something at this price point.

Thanks to its low profile design, the 15C Max has easy access to areas where other models might have difficulty moving – like underneath sofas and dressers. It’s an asset because areas like this are often neglected. No one wants to move around heavy furniture in the living room, so it helps that the 15C Max can get to those tight areas and suck things up with ease. Speaking of which, the power here is quite strong, providing the same 2000 Pa suction as the RoboVac 11S Max.

Wi-Fi connection, but not smart

Wi-Fi connectivity: This is the most notable feature added to this model that the previous model lacked. You’re no longer bound to use the included remote to navigate it as you please, finding that you can access all of the same functions through the EufyHome app, available for both Android and iOS. It provides a fairly straightforward interface that allows us to choose which mode to run, schedule sessions, and much more.

Now you can control and access Eufy RoboVac 15C MAX remotely, thanks to built-in Wi-Fi.

There’s even built-in Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa, allowing for voice commands. That is a convenient option if you want to tell the RoboVac 15C Max to start cleaning, but voice control is limited to starting/stopping cleaning, telling it to go home and find the vacuum. The option of manual vacuum control is there using the on-screen controls in the app, just like the dedicated remote.

Sometimes you don’t want to bother using your phone, so it’s nice to have a dedicated remote that performs the same functions. It’s small in size and offers access to different cleaning modes, a return-to-home function, and even the ability to control the movements of the RoboVac 15C Max manually. When you don’t think it’s effective at cleaning, using the remote control helps guide it.

Despite being a clever void, it navigates in a very ‘silly’ way. Today’s high-end vacuums can map rooms using a laser that scans their surroundings and outlines the most effective cleaning path. Still, the RoboVac 15C Max uses the old-fashioned random collision method. That means the unit will rotate and adjust its navigation when the front bumper hits something, which usually makes for a longer cleaning session. At certain times, it feels like cleaning is a random process because the robot cannot remember the layout of the rooms. Just know that it will take longer to clean.

Unfortunately, the RoboVac 15C Max does not come with boundary bands, nor does it support them. That means there is no way to keep the robot vacuum out of areas you don’t want it to access. A quick fix is to close the room door to prevent it, but there’s no way to block areas to stay out of it entirely – which other models offer. Finally, if your home has multiple levels, sensors in the vacuum will detect when it is near an edge and prevent it from falling.

Great cleaning for hardwood & carpet

If you’re looking for a clean, then you won’t be disappointed by the RoboVac 15C Max, despite how long it may take to get the job done. Please set it to Auto mode; it handles cleaning multiple surfaces. Our testing managed to suck up debris from hardwood and handle the edges nicely by hugging them tightly. Those who need more power will opt for the Max mode, which provides extra suction for deeper cleaning, but the downside here is that it gets noisy. Right in the middle is BoostIQ mode, an ideal setting that balances things out by powering up when needed.

Combining the two rotating brushes near the front of the vacuum with the rolling brush on its underside, it can easily gobble up dirt and debris. There’s still occasional debris that pops up when the two front brushes rotate, but for the most part, its cleaning performance is excellent. The brush underneath carpets rotates to leave a noticeable cleaning trail as it moves and funnels debris into its sizable storage tray. If you happen to have pets, you’ll probably need to regularly remove the bristles collected in the brush to keep them in working condition.

While not the most efficient way to clean, the RoboVac 15C Max can still pick up dirt very well and leave clean surfaces. Battery life suffers from its old-fashioned approach to cleaning, but it required a few runs to cover all areas in our testing. Like we mentioned, it’s not the smartest vacuum out there, which is why it’s important to run it a few times to make sure you get a thorough clean. Fortunately, it managed to clean in over an hour with standard suction. On the other end of the spectrum, Max Mode offers stronger suction to ensure all dirt and debris is collected, but I found that it didn’t cover most of the area between charges because it shows up in under an hour.

The base station where it charges doesn’t take up much space, but you’ll want to make sure it’s against the wall. That’s because vacuums often have trouble locating the base station if it’s not directly against a wall, leading to frequent hunting before it can be found. Also, it’s not the gentlest thing when it hits objects. The force exerts when hitting objects can cause them to move, so you’ll want to make sure small items, like pet bowls, are put away. When Eufy RoboVac 15C Max is short of power, it will automatically return to the base station for water. It takes less than 5 hours to return to full capacity. Knowing that it’s worth monitoring its cleaning progress, especially if you choose to keep the Max mode.
