amazon FreeTel Samurai Rei reviews
Design:
The phone made a very strong impression on me: so beautiful! Especially in the pink version. As a product from a Japanese company so I highly appreciate the meticulous and elaborate on this machine. Edge trim is made diamond cut both before and after as on the Apple iPhone 5s but thickness is pretty much thinner. The back of the machine is designed bo light in all four corner, creating a hold when holding.
Talking about grip feeling, solid metal design makes the machine very solid. Thin design plus slightly angular make the feel of hand grip. But thanks to the light curved bent at the back to help remove the machine a lot.
There is a point where finishing is not advanced in the very pretty overall. The 2.5D lens feels good, but the contact point of the bottom is not the same as the other side. The white part under the glass was a little too thin to reduce the finishing quite a lot. Although this does not affect much use.
But the white part underneath the glass both above and below are beautifully carved. Do not bring much but these little points bring something different
Home key:
It took me a while to realize that there were no Back and Recent apps. These two keys are integrated into the home key with fingerprint sensor. Touch once is Back, click once on Home, double click on recent app.
The Samurai Rei is not the first integrated phone of its kind. But it seems that many people are not familiar with this type of operation when I give some friends a try. I find it quite convenient, but requires a short familiarity with the new use.
The sensitivity of this fingerprint sensor is quite good. Many times I put my hand in but did not get it, although my hands were completely dry. In cases your hands are wet, it is no better.
Screen:
Samurai Rei has a 5.2 “screen with a resolution of 1920 x 1080, pixel density of 423 ppi and an IPS panel. Rei’s display quality was really good, even surpassing some of the other competitors. Thanks to the fact that the screen panel is placed just below the glass plate plus the use of 2.5D glass.
The color displayed on this machine is very pleasant, neutral, not too brilliant. Another plus point for this screen is the IPS panel which gives a very good viewing angle. You can look at an oblique angle without changing the color or brightness, if you watch the movie with 1-2 other people will feel very useful.
There is a bad point on this machine, the resolution of the display machine is only 360 x 640, though size up to 5.2 “. Fortunately, in the settings section of the machine has the option of font size, adjust to the small level and see the screen is much more effective.
Configuration:
At a price of $280, Samurai Rei is equipped with Mediatek 6753 8 cores, 2GB RAM and 32GB of internal memory. The most regrettable thing is the 2GB on this machine. Compared to other competitors in the price range, Rei is slightly weaker. Benchmark by Antutu, this machine achieved a score of about 32 thousand, equivalent to the flagship LG G3 a few years ago using the Snapdragon 801 chip.
In actual use, the chip on this machine is executed at a relatively fast speed, of course there will be a delay between your touch operation and the execution. The disadvantage of 2GB will be clear when you open multiple applications, then you open the previous application will be restarted application. However, while using it, I still feel relatively comfortable with the speed on this phone, only in complicated tasks that need multi-processor to feel a bit weak.
This phone uses the FreeTel Launcher interface of self-development based on Android 6.0. All icons are displayed on the main screen, removing AppDrawer. In addition, bring the center control down. Swipe down from the top and you’ll see a message, from the bottom will appear a quick control bar. The icon set in the machine is also remade, but personally I find it not beautiful and not bring the current flat trend.

Camera:
Although the hardware parameters are slightly worse when compared with the other players with 13 MP camera and 8 MP camera. But with Samurai Rei’s camera everything is fast: fast focus speed, fast capture speed and fast image saving – including HDR. The picture quality is very good, the WB is quite accurate although in low light conditions, night vision is pretty much noise, the HDR image processor is quite good.
Pin:
The 2.800 mAh battery is quite capable of staying in one day with moderate usage. One day I have to make a lot of phone calls – about 50 calls, using multiple WiFi – mail and facebook message constantly – it was about 4pm that the machine has low battery. Average Samurai Rei machine can be onscreen for about 4 hours to 4 hours and a half. This is not too low or too high, but for those of you who have a lot of needs, you need a backup charger around 3-4pm.
Say a little more about the machine’s temperature. When I use WiFi as well as many games, the machine is very clear. The hottest area is about 1/3 of the back of the machine.
Conclusion
The FreeTel Samurai Rei is a smartphone that offers a lot of value for its price. It’s a well-built device with a stylish design, decent display, and a reasonable set of features that make it suitable for everyday use. While it may not be the fastest or most feature-packed smartphone on the market, it delivers a balanced experience that will satisfy many users, especially those who prioritize design and build quality.
The phone’s camera and battery life are adequate for casual use, though they may fall short for power users or those who demand the best performance in these areas. The software, while functional, is outdated, and the lack of regular updates is a concern for those who prioritize having the latest features and security patches.
In terms of competition, the Samurai Rei faces stiff competition from other budget and mid-range smartphones that offer similar or better specifications at comparable prices. However, for users who are drawn to its design and are looking for a reliable, everyday smartphone that doesn’t break the bank, the FreeTel Samurai Rei is a worthy contender.
Overall, the FreeTel Samurai Rei is a solid choice for budget-conscious consumers who value design and are looking for a smartphone that covers the basics well. It may not be a game-changer in the smartphone market, but it holds its own as a reliable and stylish option for those who want something a little different from the norm.
