amazon JBL Endurance PEAK reviews
Aiming at sports lovers, JBL Endurance PEAK possesses all necessary qualities such as durable design with good impact resistance, IPX7 water resistance, no-frills hook, good battery, easy operation and easy use. However, in exchange, the sound quality and latency are the factors that users need to consider.
At the price range in the market there are many True Wireless options, but designed specifically for sports, only counting on the fingers. Therefore, the JBL Endurance PEAK has a very unique customer file, although not many people have demand but less competition.
That is the hooked part of the housing is also the switch to turn on / off the headset. When you do not use this part to attach to the housing, the headset will turn off, and when worn, will not touch each other, the headset will turn on. This is a pretty smart solution, but of course the usual True Wireless won’t be able to do that because there’s no ear hook.
After the first successful connection with the device, the next time you remove the headset, put it on the ear, it will start and connect automatically. When not in use, remove the right ear, automatically turn off the music, and remove the left ear while still using the right ear. Also using the on-off switch on the earhook section, the JBL Endurance PEAK is very responsive, not as late as some other True Wireless headphones.
While listening to music with an incoming call, the left ear also automatically disconnects, after making the call, it will automatically reconnect. All control on the right ear, tap once to stop / play music (or receive a call), double-tap to select the next song (or reject the call), tap 3 times to undo the song, swipe up and down to increase / decrease the volume. Generally very easy to use.
Because the microphone or all the sensors, connected evenly through the right ear, in case of losing the left ear, it is still usable, and the right ear is lost and the left side is considered to be discarded. I have not tried to combine the two left and right of two different sets, whichever you try, please share in the comment section for everyone to know.
In addition to water resistance, JBL Endurance PEAK IPX7 standard protects safety headphones under water level after 1 meter for 30 minutes. I tried to put in the sink to fill the water for a few minutes and then bring it to dry and listen to it. This factor helps meet all users’ use in swimming, while sweat or rain is just a small thing. Note that most waterproof products from accessories to smartphones are not resistant to saltwater, so they should not be used when swimming.
The feeling of wearing is also depending on the location of each person, I personally feel quite comfortable and very sure. Although the housing is large, the use of hook on the ear lobe does not feel heavy or uncomfortable at all. But because of using a rubber wrap right in the housing head – catheters (not rubber buttons) should be worn for a long time in the hot weather will be a little uncomfortable. This is also the common drawback of In-Ear headphones. In return, when wearing in the air-conditioned room after about 3 hours of listening, there is no feeling of pain like some other products.
Sound quality
If you want to experience serious sound, the price range has a lot of Hi-Res standard headphones with good quality. But here we are considering a True Wireless headset that is aimed at convenience and compactness so it is definitely cut off.
However, with the JBL Endurance PEAK, I still appreciate it compared to the True Wireless models in the segment. True Wireless has a deep but not strong bass band, not sure. The mid range has a fairly detailed display of the vocalist’s vocals, the bright treble band is not dazzling, but the detail is not high, so the instrument is not separated.
Overall, the JBL Endurance PEAK needs a good listening experience, but for a sports headphone, I prefer a slightly stronger bass to inspire practice. When listening to exciting songs full of bass like Despacito, Havana or fast-paced songs like Uptown, it is not very much due to deep bass but not sure, not definitive.
In addition, the headset does not support aptX or LDAC, so using high quality audio does not improve much.
Battery life
The manufacturer claims that every full charge of the headset and case will use 28 hours, the headset itself is 4 hours and the case for charging the headset 7 times more. I have no condition of continuous experience but when I fully charge the headphones I listen to music at about 70% volume, it is about 3.5 hours. Perhaps the 4-hour number that the manufacturer gave is 50% listening and the ideal condition. The 3.5-hour level for each full charge is enough for most users to practice or play sports.
The case size is quite large, larger than most other True Wireless headphones, so the number of 7 times is probably not exaggerated. There is a point to add that if the case uses microUSB charger and receives 5V / 1.5A power, users should only use the small capacity charger, it is best to plug in the computer or charge the iPhone. Most Android chargers on the market have a quite large capacity from 5V / 2A or more.
Delay
This is an inherent drawback on Bluetooth headsets in general, the JBL Endurance PEAK is limited to Bluetooth 4.2, so when watching movies, playing games will be about 0.5 – 1 second very annoying. Especially playing PUBG, I could not speak, shooting a dozen bullets to hear the gunfire. When listening to music, of course, it does not matter.
Listen to the call
When a call comes in, the left ear automatically disconnects and can only use the right ear. The sound is nothing to say, but because the microphone is far away – the common disadvantage of True Wireless headphones, when loudly speaking, the other person can hear it. At this point, I appreciate the headphones with longer tail like AirPods because the microphone will be closer and record better.
Conclude
JBL Endurance PEAK is a headset born for sports people with a dedicated design that is hard to drop, water and battery. Sound quality is also bright when compared to products in the same segment but if there is no need to use in sports, the market has quite a lot of options worth considering.
