The launch of KZ EDA marks a new step in KZ Audio’s quest to dominate the low-cost in-ear headphone market. As a 3-in-1 product set, EDA has up to three different versions and each version will have a completely different color and sound quality. With this feature, EDA completely meets all audiophile music listening needs.
Packaging and accessories
KZ EDA is one of KZ’s best headphone models with the most eye-catching design in the cover box. Featured on the front is an image of three different versions of EDA. Each version will have a completely different color and this partly makes the difference between EDA and other headphones. As usual, the back of the cardboard box is printed with all of EDA’s detailed specifications.
Inside the cardboard box will be 3 pairs of KZ EDA headphones and an accessory set including:
1 cable
5 pairs of silicone ear tips (3 pairs are attached directly to the headphones)

Design and wearing experience
KZ EDA is one of the most special headphones on the market when in the box there will be 3 different versions of EDA. Each version will have a different color and sound quality, specifically:
KZ EDA Bass Version is black
KZ EDA Balanced Version is a transparent white
KZ EDA Rentals Version is green
All three versions have an ergonomically designed housing and provide a very comfortable and smooth wearing experience. To increase aesthetics while still ensuring durability for EDA, KZ used transparent plastic to make the housing. On the faceplate, in addition to the KZ logo, there will be a delicate metal frame in silver (with the Balanced & Hires version) and yellow (with the Bass version). The slim sound tube and soft ear tips allow the headset to fit comfortably in the listener’s ear.
The cable that comes with KZ EDA uses a 2-pin connector and a 3.5mm jack. Inside the cable are conductors made of silver-plated copper with the advantage of being able to transmit signals quickly and accurately. The fact that the cable is designed to be easily removable makes the process of replacing or upgrading in the future more convenient.
Driver configuration and sound quality
All three versions of KZ EDA are equipped with only one dynamic driver. However, each version will be tuned in a different direction to create its unique characteristics. Below is the detailed sound quality of the three versions.
KZ EDA Bass Version
Among the three versions, the KZ EDA Bass Version is the version with the most powerful and vibrant bass range. The bass not only has a strong punch and sounds solid, but also goes very deep. The midbass section has good texture, while the subbass section is full of energy. However, because the volume is too abundant, the bass range will encroach on the mid-range and more or less affect the vocals as well as the instrument sound.
Being affected by the bass range, the mid-range on the EDA Bass Version sounds quite warm. The male vocal part (especially the deep male voice) is performed very well, but with the female vocal part, the voice lacks fullness and appeal. For musical instruments, the detail is significantly reduced. Due to its V-shaped sound quality, the EDA Bass Version has a very natural-sounding treble sound, but it lacks airiness and in some parts of the music, light sibilance sounds will appear.
KZ EDA Balanced Version
In the Balanced Version, the bass range on EDA has a richer texture and better accuracy. Factors such as dynamics, depth, volume, etc. in the bass range are fine-tuned towards balance, so the bass is both strong and has a fast response speed while still maintaining a high level of detail. The noise in the midbass is reduced, increasing the clarity of the bass.
KZ EDA Balanced Version has a smooth, clean, and honest mid-range. The vocal part is solid and rich in power, while the female vocal part is mellow, open, and sharp. As for the instruments, percussion has a clear and precise sound, and strings (like violin or guitar) have a smooth and sharp sound. Finally, the piano sound is lively and bright.
Of the three versions, the KZ EDA Balanced Version is the version with the smoothest-sounding treble range. The amount is just enough to create tinkling cymbals without causing glare or harshness.
KZ EDA Rentals Version
With the Hires Version, KZ EDA will satisfy audiophiles who love neutral sound quality. EDA Hires Version has clean, tight, and precise bass. Both the midbass and subbass have a neat structure and moderate volume. Unlike the Bass Version, the EDA Hires Version has a brighter, cleaner mid-sound. The female vocal part has good detail, clarity, and clarity. The sound of musical instruments also sounds more attractive. The guitar sound is clear and delicate, the violin sound is bright and detailed. Meanwhile, the piano sound is sharp and lively.
The emphasis on the upper mid and treble strip makes the treble sound of the EDA Hires Version even brighter, more detailed, and sparkling. This also leads to more sibilance appearing.
Compare
KZ EDA Bass Version Vs Blon BL03
The bass range on the KZ EDA possesses better performance due to tighter control and faster transitions. Although they are all tuned in the V-shaped direction, the upper mid part has a more detailed resolution compared to EDA. This makes the instruments and vocals on EDA appear a little clearer. Technically, EDA has more openness and the ability to separate layers in more detail. Meanwhile, the Blon BL03 has a rather narrow soundstage, slightly shallow instrument separation, and a slightly slow response speed for the bass range.
Looking a bit at the design, BL03 has better durability because the housing is made of metal. However, possessing eye-catching colors and ergonomic shapes helps EDA have a more eye-catching appearance. EDA feels more secure and comfortable to wear.
KZ EDA Balanced Version vs ND NSK
Both have the same tuning, but ND NSK has a more open soundstage and more natural sound quality. There’s not much to say about the bass range because both have moderate bass power and fast response speed. The difference mainly comes from the mid-range when ND NSK has a fresher, smoother mid-sound and richer vocals. The mid-range on EDA sounds cleaner and is brighter and more detailed. Treble extension is handled better with EDA.
Both have very beautiful designs, but ND NSK has better-built, more flexible, and softer cables. EDA’s cable has one drawback: its anti-tangle ability is a bit poor.
KZ EDA Hires Version vs CCA CRA
EDA and CRA have quite similar timbres because they both possess V-shape sound quality with emphasis on the treble range. However, EDA has a smoother and more refined treble sound. Meanwhile, the treble strip on the CRA is handled better.
With its colorful appearance, ergonomic design, and diverse sound quality due to “buy 1 and get 3”, KZ EDA is a bargain for those who have been wanting to buy a quality headset but an extremely cheap price.
