The Lumix FZ300 sits in that awkward, useful middle ground: too much camera to call a point-and-shoot, not quite a mirrorless rig. A 24x optical zoom, a sensor that’s better than what you’d get on a budget bridge camera, and stabilization that actually works handheld — that’s the pitch. Here’s where it delivers, and where it doesn’t.
The lens covers 25-600mm at 24x zoom one lens doing the job of what would otherwise be two or three on a mirrorless setup. 12.1 megapixels, which looks weak next to the 20MP sensors everywhere else until you remember bigger individual pixels just catch more light. Put this next to one of those higher-count sensors in the same size body, hand both a dim room, and the “worse” spec sheet wins.
The processor is Panasonic’s own Venus Engine. It’s not going to blow away benchmarks, but color out of this thing looks accurate rather than oversaturated, which matters more than raw speed for most people using it. Screen’s a 3-inch LCD, and it’s fully articulated not just tilting, it flips all the way around if you’re vlogging or shooting from some weird angle over your head.

Features of Digital Cameras
The digital camera comprises plenty of new features, which enable photographers to capture great quality images and videos in various shooting situations. Same handful of specs that matter here: resolution, ISO, shutter speed, aperture, white balance, autofocus, stabilization.
Sensor’s still 12.1MP, same trade-off as before fewer pixels in exchange for less noise. ISO covers 100 to 6400, and it actually holds up across that whole range: bright daylight at one end, a dim bar at the other, nothing in between where it really struggles.
Shutter tops out at 1/4000 second, fast enough for basically anything that moves. The more interesting spec is the aperture: f/2.8, and it holds that all the way through the zoom range, which most lenses can’t manage — usually you lose a stop or two of light as you zoom in, but not here.
Wi-Fi and NFC are built in too, paired with Panasonic’s free Image App. Worth having if you want to get photos onto your phone without a cable, post straight to Instagram, or step away from the camera and trigger it remotely.
As per CIPA, the battery life of the LUMIX FZ300 is up to 380 shots per charge on the rechargeable battery, which is just a little away from being excellent for a camera complemented by high-res EVF as well as LCD. It also supports USB charging, and hence, one can charge the battery on the go.
4K caps at 30fps. Want smoother motion instead? Drop down to 1080p and you get 60fps worth it for sports or anything with fast movement where resolution matters less than fluidity. There’s also 120/240fps slow-mo, but the quality drop is real at those speeds. Great for a quick effect, not something to project on a screen and expect it to hold up. Other things which it has are built-in stereo microphone plus headphone jack for audio monitoring. Its zoom microphone feature allows the microphones direction to adopt zoom position.
The autofocus is where this camera actually earns its keep. Panasonic’s Depth from Defocus tech compares two images shot at different focus points to nail down subject distance almost instantly, and unlike a lot of contrast-detection systems, it doesn’t fall apart once the light gets bad. It’s not flawless — hunting can still happen on low-contrast subjects — but for a bridge camera at this price, it’s genuinely impressive. It has many modes of AF such as face/eye detection, tracking, and 49-point AF and you can adjust its AF sensitivity and speed as per your need.
The LUMIX FZ300 has a 5-axis hybrid optical image stabilization (OIS) system coupled to help stabilize against any camera jerks while the user is shooting pictures. In either photography or videography, the combination corrects shake with 2-axes of OIS and 3-axes of in-body stabilization (IBIS). In turn, this allows one to slightly slow down in shutter speed and shoot by hand in low-light conditions without worrying about any camera shake.
The camera is endowed with a 12.1-megapixel High Sensitivity MOS sensor and a Venus Engine image processor, providing image quality in terms of high resolution with rich details and props with accurate colors that are low in noise. Numerous ways of shooting and creative filters are available on this camera, such as the most popular L.Monochrome mode that gives awesome black-and-white digital pictures with gradation and contrast.
Add it all up and you’ve got a camera that’s weather-sealed, has a lens that doesn’t lose light as you zoom, a genuinely usable EVF, and shoots 4K — which is a strong combination for anyone actually hiking or traveling with it instead of leaving it in a bag. The autofocus is quick enough that you’re not fighting it, the stabilization holds up handheld, and there’s no shortage of shooting modes if you want to dig in. It’s not the cheapest bridge camera out there, but it’s hard to find one that does this much for the price. Whether you’re a novice or an advanced, if you want an impressive all-in-one camera, the LUMIX FZ300 definitely is worth your attention.
