The Watch 3 received multiple complaints because its plastic frame design created a less expensive and lower quality experience. The Watch 4 seems to have learned from that and is very serious about incorporating an aluminum frame into the product.
The metal surface with a matte finish prevents fingerprints while the new crown-shaped rotating crown offers an interesting detail which is made from stainless steel with a refined texture. The front of the product displays a completely flat surface which includes sharp edges. The product’s surface shows potential for damage from scratches during typical daily activities according to our evaluation. The Redmi Watch 4 has also been upgraded to be compatible with Xiaomi’s quick-release straps, making it much easier to remove and replace. It works with straps from all other Xiaomi wearable devices which include the Xiaomi Band 8 Pro strap. That means you’ll have more strap options.
Display:
The 1.97-inch AMOLED display together with its 74.8% screen-to-body ratio offers a complete display experience which surpasses what the previous model delivered. The display quality shows excellent performance through its high resolution and its vibrant color range. The screen achieves outdoor visibility through its auto-adjusting brightness feature which reaches a maximum brightness level of 600 nits. The system includes an advanced feature which automatically adjusts the refresh rate to match different environmental conditions. The screen stays active at 60Hz while displaying content which users can find more enjoyable. The screen refresh rate gets decreased to 5Hz when the display turns off.
Operating System and Software:
The watch will become our next upcoming project because software-level changes remain another key factor driving our research work. The Redmi Watch 4 comes pre-installed with the latest Xiaomi HyperOS operating system, making it the second Xiaomi wearable to feature HyperOS.
The watch face library provides users with multiple personalized display options which ensure they will find their ideal match. The user interface maintains its basic design from the previous version while the system shows minimal changes. Users can swipe in multiple directions on their watch face to access notifications and see pre-installed widgets that exist within the Mi Fitness phone application.
Health and Fitness Tracking:
The Redmi Watch 4 uses its improved heart rate sensor to deliver precise heart rate measurements throughout the day. Blood oxygen monitoring now operates with 24/7 automatic tracking which enables you to monitor your blood oxygen levels during the entire day. The application provides users with features that include sleep tracking and stress level monitoring and menstrual cycle reminders and breathing exercise practice sessions.
The Redmi Watch 4 supports more than 150 sports modes which include all sports and 17 water sports and 40 outdoor sports and 26 ball sports and more. The location offers a selection of card games and board games for visitors. The device should not be used during certain exercises because we do not recommend its use. The sharp edges of the object present a risk of harm to others during basketball and soccer events.
Additional functions:
The Redmi Watch 4 includes an independent GNSS chip which can execute positioning through five different satellite systems. You can track your outdoor running activities without needing your phone. The 5ATM water resistance lets you use the device for water sports activities which include swimming.
The device comes with Bluetooth 5.3 and NFC technology for wireless connections. The feature provides you with two benefits which include connecting external devices and making secure mobile payments when your device is not connected to the internet.
Battery life:
The new watch has achieved better battery life through its 50 to 80 percent performance enhancement. The device operates for 10 days in always-on mode and 20 days under normal conditions which use default settings. The device operated throughout the day while we used most features which caused only 11 percent battery drain during AOD active time.
