Design

The GSP 370 retains a distinctive ‘Sennheiser design’ and is very much in keeping with their traditional aesthetic: a smooth, matte black finish covering the solid cups, overhead band, and flip-down mic. As a result, they are instantly identifiable. They’re solid in the hand, and the closed-back over-ear design isn’t too heavy or too light, although they’re on the lighter end of the spectrum arriving at 285g.

This aids their comfort, which is exceptional and is enhanced by close-fitting but not-squeezing cups finished in faux suede. This achieves enough comfort to be able to wear them for hours on end, ensuring you get the most out of the battery life the GSP 370s offer.

Overall, it’s a premium headset in terms of design and builds quality – the robustness of the headphones is obvious. It can survive a bump just fine while some headphones feel like they’re held together with hopes and dreams. The design of the GSP 370 is also one that promotes noise cancellation through its composition: the way the ear cups hug your head means that their design prevents outside noise from entering. This is probably what I would expect from a headset from Sennheiser and one that demands such a price, but it’s reassuring to experience it sublimely executed.

Product Features

Accompanying that quality build is a few onboard controls that make using the headset nice and simple. Under the mic on the left cup there is a trio of small features: LED battery and status indicator; micro-USB charging; then the on/off switch. The tool is simple and easy to get used to and navigate by feeling. On the right cup, the high-volume dial does all the work – a large but seamless part of the design.

Elsewhere, the USB dongle that the 370s talk to on a PC or PS4 is a good size and is fine – imagine a small USB drive. It’s not as small as the one found in the more expensive GSP 670s, but I like this because the USB 670 is smart yet so small it’s quite confusing, especially when interacting with the PS4. But no such problem exists here, as it was an easy device to work with USB in the 370.

The Bluetooth connection provided by the dongle is always strong and has a decent range, should you find yourself needing to leave, hide behind the sofa, or do anything else away from your PC or PS4 for a moment. Elsewhere and on PC, the GSP 370 uses Sennheiser’s Gaming Suite software (currently only compatible with Windows 10). This is pretty handy and allows you to customize and change the settings as you see fit, with a few presets to choose from and other changes available. However, out of the box, the sound is so nice and subtle that I doubt many will have to make any changes in practice.

Outstanding performance

Starting with the usual suspects of in-game sound tests, Doom and Wolfenstein’s weapon-filled gameplay and Mick Gordon-composed soundtrack is a real pleasure to listen to, seemingly giving me the entire frequency range of 20-20,000Hz of the headset. From the tiny mechanical noises to the unrelenting screams of hell, and from chainsaw frenzy to machine guns firing drums, the sound is amazing.

Meanwhile, games with more detailed and refined audio profiles like Assassin’s Creed Odyssey can clear up some headsets that can’t present anything lighter or more subtle. No such trouble here – the GSP 370s gave me a great audio experience while traveling through ancient Greece. Any waves crashing, or crashing, against the ship or shore is just as real as real life; The weapon’s collisions on bones and tendons are formidable and detailed, and the voices are rich and clear.

I’m currently playing Dying Light in partnership with my friend, and the GSP 370s proved the perfect companion here, excelling in every aspect of multiplayer gameplay. Or, should I say, almost in every respect, since the lack of a game audio balance versus chat audio is a feeling like an oversight when playing with friends. Even so, the overall sound of the battle has been beautifully portrayed, and it’s clear to see how zombies always sneak up on you or how Nocturnals appear during the night.

The GSP 370s have upped that game, being able to communicate with the highest clarity – the mic is one of the best I’ve used in recent months – and, with a wide brush, the blend The mix of game sounds is nicely balanced and can be enjoyed with chat on top of it (though there’s no dedicated equalizer function). Switching to Netflix or a movie is an equally fun and 370s effect with voices and sound quality in general.

At a higher level, the performance of the GSP 370s is defined by its sound quality and large battery. Battery life is – somehow – a genuine phenomenon. I have a note somewhere at home that says I’ve been using the headphones for seventy hours. It’s unbelievable, and not just a gimmicky or outrageous selling point. Team up with the great sound and experience the headset has to offer and you have a truly winning combination for a gaming headset.

Should you buy the GSP 370s headphones?

Agree. If you can save and stretch your budget to a premium model then this is the one to go for. If you fluctuate between a console and a Sony PC, this is ideal. The GSP 370 headset is the best-scoring headset I’ve used and misses out on only one missing feature: the in-game chat and audio equalizer, especially since it’s something that both official PS4 headsets have and do incredibly well. For the price of 370, you would probably expect such a feature to existing in one form or another.

Other than that, however, the GSP 370 is an incredibly easy headset to recommend. And I would probably go as far as to say that it gives the more expensive GSP 670s a lot of their money; I’m struggling to recommend going for the 670s because the 370s offer equally great sound, and all-around performance as well as that incredible battery life. If you’re willing to pay a little extra for Sennheiser – which is a perfectly reasonable thing to do – then you should stretch to these if you can. The massive battery life is worth a few extra dollars, and the Sennheiser quality will make the price tag all the more palatable in general. This is one of the best PS4 headsets and the best PC headsets for gaming.
