Beat box
Unlike the recent ‘high-walled’ boxes of other Skullcandy headphones, Cassette has an open-form box with a large cellophane layer, from the outside we can see all the headphones.

On the back we have a few specifications, most notably 22 hours of use. This is quite a good amount of time, especially considering the compact On-ear design of this pair of headphones.
Accessories in the box with the user manual, micro USB charging cord and 3.5mm cord. Quite a few headphones on the market have completely switched to ‘true wireless’, no longer have a 3.5mm port, which is commendable when Skullcandy keeps it on Cassette.
Super classic design
The most remarkable point of this pair of headphones, which I have also said over and over again in the article is the classic Cassette design. We have a pair of Onear headphones that are compact, made of plastic, so holding in hand is very light, but not to the point of being uncomfortably creaky.
The outer part of the ear is connected to the exposed head cushion, with 2 concentric circles that are quite similar to the DJ headphones of the 80’s and 90’s, or look quite similar to a exposed speaker outside of the Boomboxes.
The 3-button system of the ear is located on the right side, so the headset itself is quite prominent, so it is quite easy to press.
Right below the buttons are the 3.5mm port, micro USB charging (support for 10 minutes quick charge for 4.5 hours of music playback) and the LED indicator shows the battery.
The cushion is made quite thick, with the quality of the skin I consider acceptable. This skin type is quite flexible, does not feel like it will peel after a period of use but of course, still gives a ‘cheaper’ experience compared to more expensive headphones.
Overall, the design of this pair of headphones is quite unique. But of course, these ‘slightly different’ headphones will not suit anyone who wants a more modern, ‘more conventional’ design, so whether Cassette is beautiful or not will depend a lot on the aesthetic eye of each person.

Sound quality is not ‘old’!
Don’t let the retro look fool you! Cassette has not been tuned according to the ancient headphones but still follows the very modern sound direction that has made Skullcandy’s name: a bit dark, rich in the bass to listen to Pop, Hip Hop music. As a pair of low-end headphones, we will also have to accept a few weaknesses that will be mentioned, but in general, those who are familiar with Skullcandy’s sound style, Cassette will not disappoint you.
Of course, the sound range that is most ‘cared for’ by the company is definitely the bass! The amount of bass is abundant, never giving the feeling of being missing. Cassette, like Skullcandy’s new-generation products, also has a ‘moderation’ of bass, although every time it comes to the head, it leaves an impression, but does not resonate continuously, making the buzzer, making users quickly tired. Pentatonix’s Take on Me beatbox sound stands out in front of listeners but is at the right time so it is round, obviously the beatbox. As usual, those who are bass-head and do not require too much of the quality of the bass texture, the Skullcandy headphones, even at low prices like Cassette, have also met.
As a pair of Skullcandy’s low-range headphones, I do not put much expectation on the mid-range of these headphones, but in fact, the results are not bad at all. The vocalist’s voice is of course pushed back a bit, bringing the same dark tones as the overall sound but still enough balance, detailed enough to be called a ‘clear ring’. But as usual, Skullcandy’s mid voice will merge with Pop songs, when the singer’s voice has been adjusted through an auto-tune class to become more vibrant. The high-mid does not go high, but we can also skip it when the rest is done pretty well.
The final strip is probably not too much talk, everyone will know it’s the treble strip, and will also know that it’s not the focus of Skullcandy headphones. Cassette still has treble, but it has a dark tone similar to the bass and mid bands so it can’t go ‘to’, along with that, it can’t be placed on the edge of the headset, so it also feels like the headset has a quite narrow soundstage. This will be the sound range that users need to consider, so go listen to it before making a final decision!
An interesting pair of headphones
Cassette is an interesting pair of headphones, quite close to the object that Skullcandy was founded to serve: Hip Hop people, a skateboarder with the ‘punk’ style of the 90s of the last century. But what’s inside it is not ‘old’, when we have Bluetooth 5.0, 22 hours of music time, fast charging technology, and rich, thick bass quality. Despite having a very low price, Cassette is one of Skullcandy’s ‘highlight’ products at this time!
