In the same launch with the Jib True Wireless pair, Skullcandy also brought users a pair of headphones called Dime – English is “Coin.” These two pairs of headphones are priced quite close to each other, and looking at the configuration; we can also find similarities. But until actual use, we see that this Dime pair has completely different points from Jib TWS, even unique compared to other True Wireless pairs!

However, this charging box is not without its weaknesses. As mentioned above, Dime still uses the old micro USB standard, which users will have to adjust in their daily charging habits. Because of the small size, the battery life of Dime and its charging box is not high, with 3.5 hours for the headset and 8.5 hours for the box to add up to 12 hours.

Twelve hours is not that bad, even using up to 3 hours a day is four days. But compared to current pairs of TWS headphones, some pairs exceed the threshold of 40 – 50 hours; this can be considered low.

Dime’s earpiece, which is also neatly designed to fit in the charging case! I quite like this blue version; it stands out a bit from the simple black and gray colors; on the contrary, it doesn’t feel too much.

On the outside of the headset are two physical buttons, a skull image of the company’s logo. In a pair of headphones that are only around $90, we cannot require the headset to use touch, so the button is also acceptable. Like the Jib TWS, the Dime also has an IPX4 waterproof standard, which is enough for exercise and light splashes like rain, but it is not enough to take it into the water to swim.

So what’s Dime’s style? Overall, this is a pair of headphones towards a thick, warm sound, emphasizing bass and treble to create excitement for the music being heard. Even so, it still retains enough balance to be able to listen to songs with lyrics, not completely “dumping” the mid-range like stronger V-shape pairs.

The amount of bass will depend on quite a lot on how you choose the ear cushions and how you wear them on your ears. If you wear the headphones very deeply, the bass will certainly be redundant and encroach on other bands, but if you choose the right type of cushion, wear it well but not too deep, the bass will become more harmonious.

Bass, in general, has a decent playing force, will be more than the common ground but has also been controlled well enough so that other bands also have space to express themselves. That is probably also the advantage of Skullcandy’s recently released headphones, which are also more restrained and do not let the bass become superfluous.

The singer’s voice from Dime is performed at a good level; it is difficult to find criticisms when looking at the overall sound pattern of the headphones. Bella Poarch’s voice in Build a B*tch does not go straight forward, standing next to the listener, but taking a step back (not going back completely), has a thickness, so it still occupies the space to express itself. I’m a brighter mid listener, so Dime’s mid is still dark, but this expression will be natural for most people.

The treble range is also not left behind, although we already have the bass, and the mid is quite thick. Dime’s treble does not have too much volume; on the contrary, it has decent brightness, raising the entire sound quality so that everything is not cloudy. I won’t require the headset to have a highly detailed treble sound in this low price range, ready for the complex Hi-hat sounds of Jazz music, but I need it to represent the high sound of Hip Hop well enough EDM only.

There are compromises offset by originality.

As Skullcandy’s cheapest pair of True Wireless headphones, Dime has some weaknesses, such as using old charging standards or not long usage time. In return, we have a unique design, accompanied by a comfortable wearing feeling and the characteristic V-shape sound quality of the American audio company.
