Many people already know about the SoundMAGIC E11 and SoundMAGIC E11C. SoundMAGIC’s E11 line is the successor to the company’s previous legendary E10 series. In this new series, SoundMAGIC introduces a special edition, its first headset with built-in DAC. Today we’re going to look into these special headsets, the SoundMAGIC E11D.
The packaging of SoundMAGIC E11D is exactly the same as on previous E-series SoundMAGIC products. On the front we have illustrations of the product, name and some outstanding features. On the side is the specs and on the back we can immediately see the headset behind the glass plastic.
Open the box we have inside are the accessories included. Previously in the low-cost models like SoundMAGIC PL11 or SoundMAGIC E10, the company was very generous when it came to worrying about different sizes of eartips, containers, shirt clips, wire adapters … But it seems increasingly SoundMAGIC as much as reducing accessories compared to its predecessors. On SoundMAGIC E11D we only have one box with 2 pairs of different silicon size tips. From a user’s perspective, this makes me a bit disappointed. But well, now we will move on to the most desirable character.
DESIGN ON SOUNDMAGIC E11D
The design of SoundMAGIC E11D in housing and conductor is similar to that of SoundMAGIC E11BT. Metal housing is painted in rough black. Conductor part with black rubber sheath. This design is a bit more classic when compared to the SoundMAGIC E11 or E11C models.
The Type-C connector is made of L-shaped and is very sturdy metal wrap. The feeling of peace of mind when unplugging the SoundMAGIC E11D from the phone’s Type-C port. This part is also made louder than usual because it has built-in DAC to help improve the sound quality of the headset.
CONFIGURATION
SoundMAGIC E11D owns the same audio output configuration as on SoundMAGIC E11C and SoundMAGIC E11BT with a 10mm diameter dynamic driver using Neodymium magnets. The DAC / AMP amplifier are integrated directly into the Type-C plug for Hi-res music decoding up to 24bit / 96kHz. SoundMAGIC E11D will work completely independent of the hardware of the phone or computer, the sound quality of SoundMAGIC E11D will not be dependent on the source anymore.
In addition, the control cluster of E11D is also designed for anti-sweat. You can comfortably practice without worrying about breaking this part of the joystick.
EXPERIENCE AND SOUND
The feeling of wearing SoundMAGIC E11D on the ear is exactly the same as that of SoundMAGIC E11C gentle and pleasant. However, the wire part of SoundMAGIC E11D seems to eliminate Microphonic phenomenon better on SoundMAGIC E11C. The cord is softer and feels more friendly, though not as pretty. SoundMAGIC E11D is compatible with most of the current Type-C phones on the market, I have tested on some devices of Xiaomi or Samsung, the SoundMAGIC E11D works very stable. In addition, you can plug SoundMAGIC E11D directly into computers that support USB Type-C ports like a new Macbook or PC, SoundMAGIC E11D works just fine.
In terms of sound quality, this is the most important part to evaluate a headset. The overall sound quality of SoundMAGIC E11D is still more similar than that of SoundMAGIC E11C, however, it is at a different level. SoundMAGIC E11C as many of you know it is a successor of the old SoundMAGIC E10 with a slightly V-shape sound, playful and easy to hear.
Bass range
Bass on SoundMAGIC E11D is more rounded and fuller than SoundMAGIC E11 regular version. Details in the bass range, block floating and separation better. Listening to EDM songs with fast tempo, SoundMAGIC E11D’s bass is still very well controlled, not to be encroached into the mid range.
Mid range
The midrange of the SoundMAGIC E11 has been greatly improved compared to the old SoundMAGIC E10, but what SoundMAGIC E11D is even better. The mid range is plump and smoother. The voice is thicker, the details in the notes are clearly separated. The higher segments also do not experience sib phenomena like on the regular SoundMAGIC E11. The mid quality of SoundMAGIC E11D is very soulful and inspiring, it is extremely easy to listen and addictive.
Treb strip
The treb band on the SoundMAGIC E11D is more brittle, dissolving faster is what I feel most clearly. It’s quite smooth and easy to hear, not too gritty.
Soundstage
Soundstage on the SoundMAGIC E11D seems a bit more spacious, actually, it is not too much difference when compared to the regular SoundMAGIC E11 if plugged in a really good music player.
