That design choice felt almost early, like it was already pointing to where smartphones were headed later on, and now it’s basically normal.
Even if the resolution isn’t as high as some of the top flagship models from the time, the Vega Iron display still holds up pretty well overall. Between strong color, good sharpness, and those minimal bezels, it’s a nice everyday panel for web browsing, watching videos , and gaming in general.

Interface and performance
The interface is the same as those on the Sky or Vega previous, two interface design style beautiful and gaudy in every detail. Battery life

You can pick things like panorama, HDR, and burst shot, plus tweak items such as ISO, white balance, and exposure. There’s also a beauty mode for selfies, which smooths skin tones and boosts facial features, kind of like a soft filter you can turn on.
Up front, the Vega Iron includes a 2.1-megapixel camera, it’s more than enough for video calls and the occasional selfie. In good lighting the front camera looks decent, but once the light drops it starts to get grainy and noticeably soft, so low-light selfies are a struggle.
Video recording on the Vega Iron is capped at 1080p at 30fps, which was kind of the usual thing for smartphones back then. The picture quality looks solid, you get smooth movement and colors that stay pretty faithful , but because there is no optical image stabilization (OIS) the footage can turn shaky pretty fast if your hand is even slightly unsteady .
All in all, the Vega Iron camera holds up pretty well for its time, delivering good image quality and a bunch of casual-photographer friendly options. Sure, it won’t really line up with the camera setups you see in modern smartphones, but in the context of 2013, it was a strong contender.
Software
The Vega Iron originally showed up with Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean, and that was a pretty common Android build at the time. The device also has Pantech’s custom user interface , basically a layer sitting on top of Android, so the overall feel is a bit different from the more stock Android layout.
Pantech’s UI on the Vega Iron is visually distinct, with various personalization choices , themes and widgets. It feels approachable, large icons, menus that are easier to navigate, and overall it’s not too confusing. The interface also includes some extra perks like gesture controls, lock screens you can adjust , plus a one-handed mode, which is meant to make the phone simpler to use with just one hand.
One of the more noticeable things about Pantech’s UI is how you can kinda customize the navigation buttons. Basically, users are able to pick the order and the arrangement of the on-screen controls, so the whole interface feels more like it’s yours. Back then this kind of flexibility was still kinda uncommon, so it was a pretty welcome change for people who like tweaking their devices, not just using them “as is” or whatever.
The phone also ships with a bunch of pre-installed apps, including Pantech’s own app store, a file manager, and a media player. Some of them are actually handy, but a few might be seen as bloatware by folks who want things lean and clean. The good part though is that many of these preloaded apps can be disabled or even removed later if you want.
On the update side, the Vega Iron got pushed to Android 4.4 KitKat, and that upgrade came with improvements plus a handful of new features. Still, after KitKat there weren’t any more major updates, so if someone really cares about always running the newest Android version, that could be a downside.
Even with that, the Vega Iron’s software experience is generally pretty good. You get a user-friendly interface, some solid customization options, and features that actually add value day to day. It may not be the newest Android around, but the system stays steady, and it runs smoothly enough for everyday use.
