As mentioned it includes an Intel Core i9-12900H CPU plus an RTX 3080 Ti GPU with 16GB of GDDR6 VRAM. It also comes with 32GB of LPDDR5 RAM and 1TB of SSD storage. So basically this is a battle station monster, crammed into a 20mm chassis, with a bunch of serious gaming details.

When it comes to processing power on laptops, the 12th Gen Intel Core i9-12900H CPU is pretty much unmatched at least in the way we tested. It’s one of the best performing laptops we’ve bumped into, pushing past the MSI Raider GE76 (Intel Core i9-11980HK) and also the Razer Blade 14 (AMD Ryzen 9 6900HX). For instance, in the Cinebench tests, the Triton 500 SE hit 15278 points, and that’s close to 30% quicker than the Raider GE76, plus about 27% ahead of the Blade 14.

It’s not as bright as an OLED screen, but it still looks really good with 520 nits of brightness, plus a 100% DCI-P3 color gamut, which makes it one of the better displays we’ve noticed on a gaming laptop. A lot of the gaming laptops we’ve checked in the past had that annoying screen drifting problem, even the Acer Predator Helios 300 (2022) we reviewed.
This thing feels pretty stunning overall. It has a 16-inch, 16:10 aspect ratio, and the 2560 x 1600 pixel panel gives you this big, immersive vibe that’s easy to get lost in. On top of that, the 240Hz refresh rate, pretty much beats most rivals in most areas. So yeah, the display is beautifully sharp, bright, and rich in color, it’s honestly a pleasure to watch.
Elsewhere, the FHD webcam on the Triton 500 SE is among the better ones you’ll find built into a laptop. With 1080p resolution, it’s more than enough for video calls, and you’ll probably be surprised by how crisp the image is, plus how steady the color looks across different lighting conditions.
Sound and battery life are average
The audio experience on the Predator PT516-52s-99EL is solid, but it won’t blow you away. The Predator Triton produces enough sound depth so you can make the difference between highs, mids, and lows. Its bass is narrow, but you can still hear music from the room in a studio or small apartment.
In terms of battery life, the Triton 500 SE is more than enough for a gaming laptop with these powerful specs. On the other hand, the Predator lasted 8 hours and 16 minutes when surfing the web continuously over Wi-Fi at 150 nits; but it only lasted 1 hour and 13 minutes while playing the game. So, as you can see, the slim Predator is decent enough for the job and will probably give you a full day of work.
Audio and Webcam
The Predator Triton 500 SE comes with a stereo speaker setup that gives you loud , pretty clear sound. The speakers feel well tuned overall, with solid bass , and crisp highs. So yeah, it works for gaming, music, and movies without sounding all muddy. On top of that the laptop also supports DTS Ultra, which sort of boosts the whole experience by simulating a virtual surround type effect , more immersive overall.
Next there’s the 720p HD webcam. It’s fine for video chats and casual streaming, and for most people it’ll do the job. The picture is decent, though honestly a higher resolution webcam would have been nice, especially on a premium gaming laptop. The webcam includes a built in microphone too, and that matters because it delivers clear enough voice for calls and for streaming, without too much hassle.

During longer gaming sessions the fans may get loud, especially when you run heavier titles. Still, that’s the usual compromise, because keeping the powerful hardware cool needs a bit of fan effort. The keyboard area and the palm rest stay relatively comfortable as well, mostly because the cooling system is doing its job properly.
On the thermal side, the CPU and GPU temps stayed inside what we’d call acceptable, pretty much during the whole stress testing session. The CPU hit a high point near 85°C, and the GPU stayed under 80°C. Honestly these numbers feel normal for a high-performance gaming laptop, so that kind of thermal throttling just never really showed up.
Software, and a few extra bits
The Predator Triton 500 SE arrives with Windows 10 already installed, and there’s also an option there to move over to Windows 11 later.
