Design
Apple iPhone 8 has the same design as its predecessor, Apple iPhone 7, from the physical Home button, screen size, rounded corners and a 3.5mm headphone jack. The only major difference is that the back of the iPhone 8 is made of glass, so that the two ugly antenna bands are gone and the bonus of wireless charging.
New design of the new iPhone 8 brings a better grip, scratches over the metal shell of the iPhone 7. Overall experience is quite good compared to previous versions of iPhone. But aesthetically, the iPhone 8 does not meet the requirements of the buyer.
You will hardly be able to show the new iPhone 8 hard to hold on your hand, because it is too similar to the Apple iPhone 7 or even the Apple iPhone 6 three years ago. Apple iPhone 8 Plus is similar to the Apple iPhone 7 Plus with dual camera clusters.
Meanwhile the Apple iPhone X with breakthrough design, completely without the screen border is about to be sold. Indeed, when looking at the new design of the iPhone X, the iPhone 8 and 8 Plus look boring. With that mentality, the iPhone 8 and 8 Plus will not be the best choice.
Impressive performance, most powerful processor
The most valuable improvements of the iPhone 8 really hide inside this old design. If you are not a style enthusiast, but interested in beautiful things inside, you will be impressed with this iPhone 8.
Apple’s new Bionic processor A11 has an unmatched name (sounds like biogas), but the power of the chip may surprise you. The Geekbench test results show that the iPhone 8 blew all of Apple’s iOS devices.
This impressive power allows the iPhone 8 to handle 4G video recording at 60fps and real new AR enhanced applications. In addition, with four low-power cores, the iPhone 8 can improve battery life.
iPhone X is also packed with the Bionic A11 chip, just like iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus. So there is one of those few reasons where you might think about picking up the iPhone 8 or 8 Plus instead of the iPhone X. Honestly, it’s kind of the only reason, not really more than that.
Camera impressive, but not the reason you choose iPhone 8
So far, Apple has done a very good job of delivering stunning video and video quality on every new iPhone. The launch of the iPhone 7 Plus last year was no exception. This year, new improvements in technology and functionality continue to help the iPhone 8 achieve excellent camera quality, but not really a big breakthrough compared to its predecessor.
Maybe because Apple is always doing well, making every iPhone can take beautiful photos. So, in the eyes of the amateur, the quality of the photos taken on the iPhone 8 is as good as the iPhone 7.
However, under the eyes of experts, the iPhone 8 is capable of better image processing under low light conditions, focusing faster and more accurately than the iPhone 7. Besides the iPhone 8 Plus has the mode Capture Portrait Mode more impressive.
The most distinctive bit is Portrait Lighting, which lets you sort of mimic studio lights while you are doing portrait shots. With Portrait Lighting, your portraits look more refined , more like you took them in a studio, using those pricey digital cameras and the lighting systems too.
Of course, the simulation can not be equal to the real price of several thousand dollars. Apple said that the new feature is still under testing and will continue to improve in future updates.
That may be a reason to consider upgrading from iPhone 7/7 Plus to iPhone 8 Plus. But there are other reasons to consider leaving out the iPhone 8 Plus and waiting for the iPhone X. The camera of the iPhone X is really a breakthrough in technology, features and applications.
If the dual camera clusters of the iPhone 8 Plus only have OIS optical shake on one lens, the iPhone X has OIS anti-shake on both lenses. The iPhone is also the only device that has a True Depth camera and can capture Portrait Mode, including Portrait Lighting. So, the iPhone X is sure to be the choice of females who prefer selfie and virtual live followers.
Almost forget the iPhone 8 Plus has the world’s first 4K 60fps video recording feature (of course the iPhone X also has). This feature is also quite impressive, but 4K videos will take up huge amounts of memory.

Wireless charging
For the first time in history, Apple has built-in wireless charging for the iPhone, and it’s great that Apple is using the popular Qi standard. Although this technology is not new, but for iPhone users it is as good as the first time you use MagSafe magnet on a MacBook.
You might like the convenience of charging wirelessly on the iPhone 8, but actually the charging speed is slower than charging with a lightning cable, rather than the equivalent of what Apple claims.
The iPhone uses a 1.821 mAh battery, while the 8 Plus has a 2.675 mAh battery. This figure is kinda way lower than the 1.960, and 2.900 mAh levels of the iPhone 7 and 7 Plus from last year. Yet, with the upgraded Bionic 6 core A11 chip, the battery life feels on par with the previous model, kind of same vibe really.
