ASUS Zenbook UX302L

Zenbook “slim type”. New Zenbook UX302 generation slim even further, which I know is not inferior to Apple’s Air supermodel. Weighing just over 1kg, showing great flexibility, but most people use the computer a lot like I would consider. Macbook Air is fascinated by the typical silver aluminum shell. Zenbook also no less when aluminum body and equally meticulous. But Zenbook more attention by the back lid Sleek, colorful.

Gorilla Glass 3 is insured. ASUS quite subtle when choosing this type of toughened glass to shield the back lid always been considered the most sensitive location of a laptop. Technology NDR (Native Damage Resistance) of Gorilla Glass 3 helps improve the scratch resistant glass surface. Combined with the technology manipulated by Diamond-Cutting and CNC precision, Zenbook is very standard on 2 floors semantics: the beauty of flawless technology and reliability over time.

Mac OS convince me by stability. But it was in the past when Apple still holds the philosophy is simple and pragmatic. Running Mac OS technology that becomes sullen, like him that I used to hate Windows ever. Looking back Windows, version 8.1 preinstalled on the Zenbook, a little glitzy, but I found some interesting. Zenbook made me or anyone, turn it to try using a smartphone on a computer – touch icons on the screen to execute. MacBook is my favorite because the keyboard light, multi-point touchpad sensitivity. Zenbook enough. Moreover, the touchscreen also makes operation of the software interface with intuitive and easier to use.

There was very stimulating as children find a new hobby. I’m not too bothered with the parameter is “configured peak” or “advanced equipment” … Press and running, would suffice to feel satisfied. One other support that I love Mac OS is sleep-wake feature (Sleep – Wakeup) when folded and open the screen. Directly trial, the Zenbook, with the new Windows, quite satisfied.

In addition to work, entertainment is also a support that computer users are also interested. MacBook makes me happy because the beautiful and detailed screen, good sound. But there is little discouraged when supported entertainment on Mac OS is somewhat limited compared to Windows. Movie player software on Mac OS and for all, but still inferior in number and features extended support. Mac OS is very little game though that configuration on devices running the Mac OS has always been focused. Back Windows this time – feel differently, with Zenbook.

The screen can not be considered Zenbook most advanced but equally edge technology as well as visibility. 13.3 inch FullHD resolution, IPS technology for detailed visibility and honesty in any action. Premium sound system with SonicMaster technology for standard sound quality. Good machine configuration play games on Windows, or simply with some available game on the Store. The beauty is built Windows-compatible software system with their new product a lot better than what Apple are. Although iOS Appstore great, but on the Mac OS, the array of entertainment, boring.

Performance

The UX302L runs a 4th-gen Core i7-4500U, 1.8GHz base, up to 3.0GHz on Turbo Boost. Dual-core Haswell chip, paired with 8GB of DDR3 RAM — enough that multitasking never really becomes an issue.

Storage is a hybrid: a 500GB hard drive with a 16GB SSD cache bolted on. You get the space of a hard drive with faster boots and quicker access to whatever you use most, without paying full SSD prices.

Graphics are an NVIDIA GeForce GT 730M, 2GB dedicated. Fine for photo editing, casual games, general multimedia — not something you’d want for serious 3D work, but a clear step above what integrated graphics can do.

In actual use, browsing, office work, media, light editing — none of it causes hiccups.

Battery Life

The 50Wh battery lands around 6 to 8 hours depending on what you throw at it. Browsing and document editing get you toward the higher end; gaming or heavy rendering eats it up faster. ASUS’s Power4Gear software adjusts brightness, CPU behavior, and radios automatically to squeeze out more runtime. It won’t outlast the ultrabooks built specifically around battery life, but it gets you through a work day.

Keyboard and Touchpad

The keyboard is the best part of this laptop, honestly. Full-sized, chiclet keys, good spacing and travel, quiet under your fingers. It’s backlit too, adjustable brightness, which actually matters if you’re typing on a red-eye flight or up late.

Touchpad’s large, tracks gestures cleanly, cursor control feels precise. The buttons have a satisfying click instead of that mushy feeling cheaper trackpads have.

Audio

Speakers fire out the bottom of the laptop, which sounds like it should be bad — and would be, if ASUS hadn’t tuned them with Bang & Olufsen. They sound noticeably better than the placement suggests. Fine for calls and background listening; plug in headphones and it steps up considerably for actual music or movies.

Connectivity and Ports

Three USB 3.0 ports, HDMI, mini DisplayPort, a combo audio jack, an SD reader, a Kensington slot. Three USB 3.0 ports on a laptop this size is more than most competitors bother with — no dongle needed for most things you’d plug in. HDMI and DisplayPort cover monitors and projectors, the SD slot is handy if you shoot photos, and 802.11ac Wi-Fi with Bluetooth 4.0 keeps wireless fast and stable.

Conclusion

This is a solid ultrabook. Good performance, a battery that gets you through the day, one of the better keyboards you’ll find at this size, and more ports than you’d expect from something this thin. The downsides are real but minor — you can’t upgrade much, and the glossy screen picks up glare near a window. For anyone who wants something portable that can actually keep up with a full day of work, this delivers.
