amazon Audio technica ATH SR5BT reviews
Design
This is a Onear headset, taken from the fullsize MSR7 prototype. And in fact, this looks quite like a miniature MSR7. Black body, matte finish. The highlight is a diamond-cut that runs around the company’s logo. This shows that the cups of the headphones are made of metal, yet the weight is still quite light to wear comfortably. Cups can rotate 90 degrees, but can not fold in.
The ear cushions are thicker, using artificial leather is soft, the feeling is more difficult to peel than the kind used in the old ears like the M50x. SR5BT is an onear ear, so the pads will be pressed into the ear, so even if you are very quiet if you wear long time, so after about 1 hour to take a break before using again.
All controls are located on the ear, including the power button on the right ear, the volume control on the left ear. The “push and pull” button on the left ear is different from the one on the other ear, but after a while it will be familiar. The wire of the headset is just a regular wire, no other control.
Sound
Unlike most wireless headsets on the market today that are trying to make heavy bass or v shape earphones to match pop dance music, ATH is still in sync with neutrality, all in its strips this headset.
When it comes to Bluetooth headsets, many people will think of these as headphones for exercisers, with the bass doing a lot and breaking into other bands. With the SR5BT, the company makes this bass more reasonable, because the direction of this headset is intended to hear more than just focus on a certain line. This bass is not much, just like the MSR7. The sound of the headset is quite neutral and not dark and so the bass is not too much. Bass is made equal, compact at a point and rounded. There is no bass-bleed phenomenon, the bass just play up, then a short paragraph and then fast off not leaving the tail too long. The bass sub is just deep enough, of course not comparable to the headphones for bass-but can not be considered superficial. Most of the bass focus on mid bass, high speed play and good punchy. The bass of the previous AD series was slower, but to the newest lines such as the M70x, MSR7 and now the SR5 and SR5BT, the bass was more responsive, as well as the tone of the song and more urgently.
Mid of the headphones is made somewhat similar to the MSR7. The midrange does not go straight to the head of the listener but is placed in the middle, not backward but forward is not strong. Mid is quite compact on both sides, can also be said to be slightly thin compared to the onear headphones today. The mid section is slightly lighter, focusing on the mid range rather than the midrange. This does not mean that the low mid section is completely lost. SR5BT can still play the male vocalist pretty well but they will not have the husky and heavy voice as compared to the warm and dark earphones. Mid is focused, sure, not spread to the sides.

The sound is somewhat less than the sound of a little voice, so the singer can not call it completely dry but lost the extremely sweet sound of the AD line. This is both good and bad for some people. Neutral, cooler voices will play more music and no mid-distortion and too sweet, but female singers do not produce as much acoustics as with mid-sweet earphones. The high mid section is quite high, but no increase in volume and no peak should be heard enough but still quite quiet. Emily Loizeau’s voice is more prominent than Sony’s recent Inear headphones, but still quite comfortable and light, not heavy sibalance.
ATH’s headphones are never short of treble, including closed and onear headphones like the SR5BT. The amount of treble of the SR5BT can be said to be quite good, not quite a lot, but obviously much more than the ears of Skullcandy. Treble has a very long drag, not create a long overdue when compared to the open AD of the company, but up quite high and do not roll off too strong. Treble is not thick so the wind chimes do not clash phenomenon, separate out. This is a treble-and-treble-head sound that is extremely cold, but still very comfortable and suitable for the SR5BT’s neutral sound.
As a wireless headset, SR5BT is quite convenient for watching movies. The headset connected to the computer is quite stable, the lag between the image on the machine and the sound on the headset almost did not occur so there is no sound phenomenon running in the picture. The sound of SR50BT is quite balanced, the bass is not very much and the explosion like the bass-head sound so explosive, the gun sound is not monumental. But comedies and movies are often more comfortable because they are not. Because this is an onear sound, the sound field is slightly better than the inear ears so the movie experience is more natural, but still not comparable to the fullsize ear, especially open.
