Design

The whole frame is made of white aluminum; the feel of the handset is very cool but feels heavier than other devices. The machine’s screen is surrounded by a black border, like the general design of the tablet today. The sides of the machine are made of synthetic materials from aluminum and silver; the back of the device has a glossy silver Gigabyte Logo.

The machine is quite sure, surface inspection and the device’s edges very well, no monotonous, or loose in the joints. But the material Gigabyte uses for the S1080 is quite inexpensive, perhaps not the spiritual child that Gigabyte wants to believe in it. Software

Communication applications are pre-installed by Gigabyte called AppPark. The software is considered an interface package that integrates many simple applications to help users experience fast operation with a tablet’s basic tasks through the touch screen. Familiar Windows programs have not been optimized to match the performance of the machine. Still are common applications such as Paint, Adobe Reader, and Microsoft Office Starter, but unfortunately, these applications do not seem smooth.

Touch screen

The touch screen of the machine is low sensitivity, high latency. Most gestures manipulated with the device’s touch surface must hit several times before seeing the engine’s response, feeling uncomfortable. However, Gigabyte has replaced a mouse for this tablet. This mouse consists of a small ball on the right side of the screen and two mouse buttons on the left. This round ball pen acts as a touchpad, making it easy to move the mouse pointer.

Gigabyte equipped the S1080 with a 10.1-inch anti-glare screen with a 16:10 aspect ratio, a resolution of 1024×600 pixels. The screen has a maximum brightness of 160 m² / cd and an average of only 148 cd / m². That is too dark for a portable tablet, even less than a minimum brightness of 200 m² / cd to view the screen comfortably in bright sunlight. Processor

The power rating of the machine is done with dedicated Cinebench R10 benchmark software. We had hoped that its scores would be comparable to rivals, or even netbooks, at the same price. Sadly, in the evaluation of this CPU, the performance that it brings can not keep up with the Asus Eee PC 1015PX (the same configuration). The Eee PC scored 1,654 points while Gigabyte lagged at 1,361 points. Dell Latitude ST-LST01 has a weaker processor and can only score 759 points.

Intel GMA 3150 is a graphics chip designed for basic applications such as Office or Web surfing. This chip is too weak to edit photos/videos or play games. However, a short test showed that the machine can still play Full HD video quite well.

Battery life

It only uses 11W, which is 16W lower than the other tablets; this may increase the system’s overall performance. To evaluate battery life, we use the Battery Eater tool. This tablet has not achieved 5 hours of operation with minimum brightness setting and power-saving mode, off WLAN. The time spent surfing using wifi is said to be much more important. Brightness is set at 150 cd / m² (highest), and we use wifi to surf the web. This tablet stands in 3 hours and 19 minutes.
