1. Design and Finished Product Quality.

The machine has an appearance with the characteristics of HP in general, and of the Envy series in particular, we will have a fairly sturdy aluminum alloy chassis, and a beautiful silver-gray painted shell. But we still do not overestimate the quality of the finished product. It still has some thinness and slight flex, but tolerable, the body is nonetheless more durable than the 13-inch Envy x360 we’ve reviewed.

The machine design uses square edges and rounded corners, with the prominent glossy chrome HP logo on the embossed lid, the HP logo at present has been changed, looking newer, more beautiful, and more daring! In terms of weight and thickness, the HP Envy x360 15 has measurements of 1.82kg and 18.4mm.

2. Keyboard and Touchpad.

The keyboard on the Envy x360 15 has a built-in one-touch fingerprint reader, making it faster, more convenient, and also more secure. The recognition speed is fast and accurate, and about the keyboard, the user will have relatively sized keys, decent key travel, moderate bounce, and smooth typing keys with little noise.

4. Battery life

The HP Envy x360 15 is equipped with a 51Wh battery, and the Tiger Lake U-series processor chip is a power-saving chip, so we will have a pretty good battery life, but the time for surfing the web again surprised us. The machine can last 6 hours 46 minutes surfing the Web, or 10 hours 50 minutes video playback.

Here’s what we got during testing: Windows’ Better Performance mode setting was turned on, the screen’s brightness was adjusted to 120 nits, and all other programs were turned off except for the program we’re using to test.

5. Heatsink

To cool the system, the machine is equipped with a fairly basic and meager cooling solution: only one fan and a copper heat pipe.

CPU stress test

In this test, we let the HP Envy x360 15 work with a variety of tasks from light to heavy over time, and then gradually push the performance to 100% on all CPU cores, thereby monitoring the clock level and output temperature of the chip.

We used an extra fan during the test, and this fan contributed to raising the clock speed to a higher level. Although the temperature level was almost unchanged during the early part of the test, closer to the end the difference between the clock level and the output temperature was quite significant.

On the bottom of the machine, there are rubber feet, but it seems that they are not high enough, so the machine is not provided with enough space for air circulation, to support the cooling system. As a result, the internal fan has to spin at high speed, work harder under heavy loads, and then produce slightly excessive noise. The temperature on the surface is also quite high and hot, concentrated around the W A S D key cluster, the measured temperature is 42.1 degrees Celsius.
