amazon Plantronics BackBeat GO 810 reviews
Plantronics BackBeat GO 810 possesses ANC active noise cancellation along with a solid build, vibrant bass sound quality even though it is only in the mid-range price segment.
When it comes to headphones with built-in ANC, there are not many names that can match the high-end lines of Bose or Sony. So what about this new headset from Plantronics? Can it be compared with the heavyweights mentioned above?
Build – Appearance
Plantronics BackBeat GO 810 has solid, well-finished builds commonly found on Plantronics products. The build is made mainly of plastic; the outer shell is covered with a matte black layer, dotted by a copper yellow headband frame when you stretch it out. It creates a clear highlight on a headphone that is somewhat too simple.
Although I still believe in the build quality of Plantronics, it is hard not to admit that the appearance of the BackBeat GO 810 is somewhat boring.
The outer matte black paint covers most of the details of the headset, but not completely. It is covered on the headband, the border around the housing, the surface of the left housing has the words “Plantronics,” and many other parts of the headset.
However, the surface on the left side of the housing is made of silicon. You can feel it clearly when touching or simply looking at the dust particles on that easy-to-stick rubber surface. Above, there are buttons to navigate to pause/next/back songs, which look a bit rough and not very good-looking.
But like I said, that’s the only point that I like very much; the rest of the build quality is still solid, the level of completion is good.
There is also a volume up and down button on the left housing of the BackBeat GO 810, a micro USB charging port, and a 3.5mm AUX port. Earcup housing on the right is a Bluetooth power/pairing slide button; right below is the ANC feature toggle button. The inside contains a 40mm driver with a bass tube design, which helps to enhance the bass range.
Both sides of the earpad are made of soft leatherette material. Combined with plastic material in most parts, Plantronics headphones are comfortable, can be worn for a long time without causing discomfort, without overheating.
The headband is made of plastic; underneath is a headband made of fabric, not too soft but not too bad. The extension bar of the headband is made of metal, covered in shiny, prominent gold color.
The headset comes with one mesh bag for storage; it has no hard case to store it, nor can it be folded to save space on the go.
Wearing experience
The wearing experience that GO 810 brings is quite good. Lightweight, sturdy headband with adjustable width. The fit is good; the earpad is quite large, covering the entire ear. The grip is good, firmly gripping the ear but not too tight, causing discomfort when worn for a long time.
As for the temperature issue, the ears are hot, sweaty when worn for a long time; it is unavoidable for the closed-back design of the GO 810 and the hot summer weather. The advice is to put your headphones on your ears from time to time, leaving a space to cool the earlobes instead of covering your ears continuously for a long time.

Connectivity – Features – Battery Life
Users can connect the BackBeat GO 810 via wireless Bluetooth or plugin the 3.5mm cord directly to the source. The headset supports Bluetooth 5.0 standard, fast connection, stable, clear, and uninterrupted sound transmission.
There is also the ANC feature of the headset at this price range of only $130. Overall, this is a remarkable effort for Plantronics when integrating this feature on a full-size closed-back headset in this price segment.
Of course, its noise cancellation won’t be compared to high-end headphones like the Sony WH-1000XM3 or the Bose QC 35 II, but it’s still good enough for you to consider. It easily eliminates distracting environmental noises when working, but not enough to remove noisy voices. You have to turn up the volume quite loudly if you want to isolate yourself from the outside environment completely.
Another thing is that you cannot use this feature when listening directly through the 3.5mm jack.
The BackBeat GO 810’s continuous listening battery life is 22 hours with ANC noise canceling on, 28 hours without it. In actual testing, the number achieved is more than 20 hours of continuous listening when ANC is turned on, quite close to the theoretical number. That is quite impressive battery life; you don’t have to worry about taking it with you on picnics as well as wearing it all week at work.
Sound quality
Plantronics headphones have a natural bass sound that is often found on many of its Bluetooth headsets. BackBeat GO 810’s bass range is quite bouncy, down not too deep but enough to hear. Bass is handled quite neatly, although Plantronics heavily emphasize the headset on volume. The upper bass part is shown more clearly and somewhat overwhelms the mid.
You can see this when watching Riot’s Get Jinxed MV. Throughout the MV is the dominance of kickdrum pounding. The rhythm is quite fast and tight, neatly showing the chaotic explosive space of the MV. However, the volume of the bass range is quite large and overwhelms Jinx’s fierce, crazy vocal. All in all, it presents a vibrant, fast-paced music video, but in return, it somewhat reduces the characteristic “YOLO” personality of the character Jinx (vocal of the song).
That’s not to say that Plantronics’ mid and treble ranges are bad. The mid-range is still clear and detailed enough to convey warm, powerful voices. Treb also fulfills the role, not dazzling when going high, even though it cannot perfectly express the soundstage and instrument’s sound.
Overall, the Plantronics BackBeat GO 810 does not have excellent sound quality, but there is nothing to disappoint about its sound reproduction. It has a reasonably strong bass range, suitable for exciting music such as Hip hop, Pop, EDM, and maybe a little Rock.
Ending
Plantronics BackBeat GO 810 possesses a pragmatic, simple design language, a solid, light, comfortable build, good battery, high-end ANC active noise cancellation. It also has good sound quality, fine detail, strong bass, lots of volumes, compact, tight beat suitable for exciting music genres, and lots of basses.
Of course, there are still some minus points, such as the non-foldable design; the material is mainly plastic, the housing surface is made of silicone that is easy to stick to dirt, not at all high-end, the micro USB charging port does not support fast charging. But for a headphone in the price range of $130 with ANC active noise cancellation, the BackBeat GO 810 is still a good product, worth considering if you like what it brings.
