The compact body is in black and gray and has a pattern of diagonal lines running from the back to the keyboard. All those factors when combined with the curvature engender a sense of elegance and raw, smooth beauty that can rival even that of a Macbook Pro.

The rear of the Dell Vostro 3400 is made quite good and stiff enough that it does not give me a feel of rickety or weak despite the fact that it is made from plastic. It also features thinned inner screen borders that add an air of luxury and trendiness to the design while avoiding shocking the user with the “pit” of thin screen borders in modern office laptop models.

Apart from that, this laptop has a rough plastic exterior that doesn’t really leave fingerprints on the armrest below the keyboard or the back of the laptop. I really appreciate this because it keeps the laptop nice clean over extended usage, and also being great for kids like me who tend to sweat a bit on their hands and do not want to wipe it every so often.

In my opinion, while this laptop has inherited some design cues from classic office models, a few adaptations have been cleverly squeezed in to make it somewhat new and trendy, or, to put it a bit more cheekily, this Dell Vostro 3400 is Vintage, not Outdated.

For those who want a configuration that is just enough to accomplish things, not much more than that, just enough to get through the job, and highly affordable, the Dell Vostro 3400 would be a fine decision and a very worthy choice.

Vostro 3400 runs on Intel i3-1115G4 CPU (2 cores/4 threads), capable of turbo frequency from 3.0 GHz up to 4.10 GHz. The i3-1115G4 CPU can very well do office functions like typing on Word, processing data in Excel, mail checking, web surfing, etc. Just like any other office software, Word, Excel, and even Chrome do not demand a lot of resources from the CPU. Hence, the 2 cores of i3-1115G4 can very well handle all of them.

If needed, try Photoshop, Lightroom, or other photo editing applications; otherwise, think far, far, away from the editing field and buy a Dell with better CPU configuration. The 2-core CPU can sort of do it but will find it quite a struggle.

In terms of RAM, because the Vostro 3400 comes with standard 8GB RAM, I presume it represents the standard RAM level and shall feel reasonably well off for anybody reasonably engaged in office work. But if you are a multitasker or someone who loves opening a dozen Chrome tabs to juggle between work, movies, and music, I would recommend increasing the RAM to 16GB with no real hesitation.

That’s being said, more USB ports are what attract me because I can plug in anything from a mouse, keyboard, headset, and USB to charging cord. It is held by an individual, rests on the lap, or goes into a backpack without feeling uncomfortable. The backpack reminds me: the size of the Vostro 3400 being quite modest meant that when I shoved it into the backpack it practically looked like getting swallowed by the backpack, looked quite funny and a little cute.

The low weight and compactness of this laptop, in my personal opinion, can accommodate both men and women, especially those who are always on the go, who need a laptop that does not consume too much space in a backpack, and yet leaving enough room to squeeze in other items like books, headphones, wallet, or even food. Furthermore, the Vostro 3400’s charger is also pretty compact, which is a massive help in economizing precious storage space and also makes it less troublesome to retrieve the charging wire for the laptop.

Vostro 3400 indeed possesses a pretty good webcam with HD recording quality. According to my experience when meeting online, the quality of the Vostro 3400 webcam is relatively clear, without blurring or blurring the image.
