amazon JABEES FIREFLY 2 reviews
Sometimes we talk too much about the top-end TWS headphones on the market but forget about a mid-range ‘MVP’ that is the product of Jabees, especially the Firefly and Firefly Pro pair. Recently, the company has released a continuation version with upgrades from the inside out called Firefly 2. Does the quality still match the reputation it has built?
Jabees Firefly 2:
Jabees’ boxes are usually not fussy, and this year the Firefly 2 box also ditches its signature orange color, only pure white.
As shown on the front, this is a pair of headphones designed for an active life.
The accessory set in the box is quite rich, in addition to the charging box, we have a USB Type-C charging cord, up to 5 different buffers, and a wired connection so that the user can place the headset on his shoulder when not in use.
Design
The Jabees Firefly 2’s charging box does not have much design difference compared to the Firefly Pro but has an upgrade in terms of usage time, with the headphones last 10 hours and three more charges to up 40 hours battery life.
The charging case retains fast wired charging (10 minutes for 2 hours of use) and Qi wireless charging.
As mentioned many times, I like it when the new generation headphones are gradually equipped with wireless charging, very convenient for when you need to go out on the street, can not find a charging socket.
The box is not much different, but the headset part has a different design. Dropping the elongated design used for generations, the Firefly 2 is a more rounded and plump pair of headphones. We also have a short ‘tail’ similar to the pair of AirPods Pro, increasing the quality of conversation and making it easier to remove the headphones from the ear.
The inside of the headset is also somewhat larger than the Firefly Pro, so those with small ears should try it first to see if it fits their ears or not. The outside of the ears is buttons so we can control calls, music.
The biggest upgrade in appearance, definitely the IPX7 waterproof standard (2 levels higher than IPX5 of previous models). In the promotional images, Jabees also ‘confidently’ shows pictures of Firefly 2 to swim, buried in the sand, so this is a pair of headphones suitable for professional sports players.
Currently, the IPX7 standard pair of headphones is not much on the market and usually has a higher price than the Firefly 2 we have today!

Jabees Firefly Sound Quality 2
Before talking about sound quality, we must reiterate that Jabees has done so well: build his processors. That is one of the first to integrate Bluetooth 5.0 into its products and find a way to connect both ears to the source without having two Bluetooth devices showing up as Qualcomm did with the apt-X standard. That is a commendable thing, which helps the company use new technologies but does not depend on third parties, making the final sale price increase.
Not only that, but the company also pioneered in enhancing the sound quality by trying new diaphragm technologies into its products. The type of drivers used the most by the company, and still present in the Firefly 2, are the Graphene-coated drivers. Graphene will increase the diaphragm stiffness, help it move more accurately, avoid distortion, increase detail. But it seems that the company has also used a new type of driver, so the final sound quality is not completely similar to the Firefly Pro version.
Bass: The amount of bass can still be said to be above average, still giving the listener a sense of fullness, a little hum in the background. But the bass play of Firefly 2 is more compact than the Firefly Pro. The sub-bass has a decreasing force when going deep (one part has melted into the background to create warmth for the whole range), focusing more on the mid-bass. Kendrick Lamar’s Humble drum is complete with each push-down, but after a short time, it’s punctuated to avoid boomy, pull the tail. It seems that over the generations, the higher the price range, the lower the bass, the more ‘elegant’ gameplay, a common trend of many different sound labels.
Mid sound: The bass is made lighter, which means that the middle has more ground. Like the Firefly Pro, version 2 has a thick, warm vocalist’s voice, which keeps the clarity thanks to the fairly detailed, but this time it is closer to the listener. Depending on the taste of music, that will give this an advantage or disadvantage. On the downside, the singer’s voice loses a little laid-back comfort. But on the upside, we have a closer, more intimate relationship with the performing singer, which version 2 does quite well.
Treble sound: As usual, the sound band that Jabees still needs to improve is the high range. The Firefly 2’s high band isn’t bad but still quite ‘shy,’ standing behind the other tonal bands, lacking the brightness and prominence needed to be the focus of every pop-up. Choosing the tips also affects the treble sound because if you select the tip too thick, too tight, the treble sound will be weakened by the thicker bass. Therefore, those who use Firefly 2 but are not satisfied with the high strip can choose a softer tip that fits more comfortably.
We get too much back at a mid-range price!
Jabees is indeed a rather ‘strange’ company, although integrating technology extremely into its products, with a sound quality that is not bad at all but is still debuting at low and mid-range prices yet. Into the high-end market. But maybe this is a good thing for us when we get an IPX7 waterproof Firefly 2, wireless charging, sturdy design, rich sound quality from Graphene drivers for a very good price range.
Advantages
– Rugged design, used to swim with IPX7
– The charging box can fast charge, charge wirelessly
– Good connectivity thanks to its microprocessor
– Ability to listen to the environment
– Total music playing time up to 40 hours
– Bass is enough in volume but for high density
– Mid warm and clear
Defect
– The treble can be weak with some taste
Charging advice: Wireless headphones use a small capacity battery; users should use it with a 5V 1A charger (original iPhone charger or USB from a laptop) to ensure the battery is safely charged most completely. Avoid using fast chargers, tablet chargers, 5V 2A chargers; the headset’s battery can not withstand the load, and there is a risk of total damage!
