FIIL CC2 – an upgraded version of the True Wireless headset model that is causing fever in the headphone community in Vietnam for a while is now officially on the shelves. If you are as curious as I am to know what this new version of the headset will do, let’s find out through this review and comparison.

DESIGN AND FINISHING OF FIIL CC2

FIIL CC2 is almost unchanged from the first version. An elegant and sturdier style than Airpods 2.

This design was created by designaffairs – The world’s leading design company based in Germany. FIIL CC has previously won many prestigious design awards, including Reddot Design and IF.

The headphone section of the FIIL CC2 is identical in size to its predecessor. The main body is covered with metal and has a rough surface treatment. Housing is made in the style of earbuds influenced by the design of Airpods, providing a comfortable wearing experience for all users.

A change that few people can realize on the body of the FIIL CC2 headset compared to the old version is that the two charging pins have been repositioned. Therefore you will not be able to use FIIL CC2 with the previous version charging case. The mic on the headset’s body has also been changed from a rectangle to a round dot.

Although there is no cover like most True Wireless models on the market, the FIIL CC2 will never fall out of the charging case accidentally. FIIL’s smart design allows you to take two headphones with just one hand, extremely fashionable.

That is also one of the first True Wireless headphones globally to support this advanced Bluetooth standard. The reception antenna of the FIIL CC2 has been upgraded, using the same LDS antenna as on the flagship True Wireless models for more stable reception.

The difference between Bluetooth 5.2 and Bluetooth 5.0 standards we will not analyze closely here. You need to understand that the new Bluetooth version will provide faster and more stable connections, longer connection distances, and more battery savings.

The battery life of the FIIL CC2 is up to 5 hours on a full charge, almost double of the previous version. Combined with the charging box for a total use time of up to 32 hours continuously. FIIL CC2 has also supported fast charging technology via a USB Type-C port. Just 5 minutes of charging can always be used for 1 hour.

FIIL CC2 will have up to 3 separate modes optimized for watching movies, playing games, and listening to music. Each mode will customize the delay and sound quality to best suit the user experience.

The FIIL CC2’s conversational noise filtering ability is upgraded with a new algorithm and two microphones to filter out noise. According to NSX, almost 90% of ambient noise is eliminated when you make a phone call via FIIL CC2.

Most headset models in the price range of less than $100, like FIIL CC2 on the market, will not have any control applications included, or if there are, it will be very sketchy. However, FIIL CC2 is equipped with extremely high-end control software that higher-priced headsets must also be wary.

You can view the battery capacity of the two headphones and the charging box on the accompanying software, just like Airpods. You can set EQ, change control functions, and more. However, currently, only the Chinese domestic version of the software supports FIIL CC2. You may have to wait a little longer in the international version before you can use it with FIIL CC2.

EXPERIENCE OF FIIL CC2

Tested on iPhone 8, FIIL CC2 for boot, and connection speed is almost twice faster than version 1. It only takes about 1.5s from taking the ear out of the charging case; FIIL CC2 automatically powered on and successfully connected to the phone in about 4.5s. Although still slower than Airpods 2, it is still faster than all True Wireless headphones in the same price range.

Although iPhone 8 only supports Bluetooth 5.0, the connection of FIIL CC2 is still extremely stable. No drop, no stutter, the sound is always played smoothly.

Touch control on FIIL CC2 gives better feedback than the previous version and is comparable to Airpods 2 when used on iPhone.

The version I’m testing is the Chinese domestic version so that the announcements will read in Chinese. Yes, you do not like this detail.

SOUND QUALITY

The FIIL CC2 is equipped with a dynamic driver that uses a 13.1mm diameter titanium-coated diaphragm. This parameter is quite similar to the previous version, but the sound quality of FIIL CC2 has really been improved, much easier to hear.

The sound quality of the old FIIL CC2 is a bit bright, click on the high mid, but on the FIIL CC2, the sound has been refined in a more balanced, warmer direction. It still retains much better clarity and detail when compared to Apple Airpods 2.

Bass range: Bass hit is stronger and more rounded than the first version. Although not as thick and dense as Airpods 2, it reaches a balanced, natural level. The bass focuses a lot on the mid-bass area and is well controlled.

Mid-range: The sound range, in my opinion, is the best on FIIL CC2. It’s balanced, smooth, and very natural. The singer’s voice is made slightly thick and warm; the middle of the stage should make it easy to listen to and like. It is much more detailed and clean than Airpods 2 because, on Airpods, the mid sound is made too thick, so the color is lost naturally. Instruments have quite neutral tones, not too much coloration.

Treble range: Up to the top, airy, enough to listen without being harsh. The sibilant phenomenon is very well controlled.

With this sound quality, FIIL CC2 will play well in many genres of music, especially Pop, Ballad, Vocal, because of its very beautiful mid-range.

EPILOGUE

The FIIL CC2 is an upgraded version of the FIIL CC. There is no point from the finished design to the sound quality on this headset worthy of criticism. If you are a person who likes simplicity but still has your personality and does not want to donate blood to Apple, then simply FIIL CC2 is for you.
