amazon Zotac Geforce GTX 680 reviews
The GK104 GPU-based (code-named Kepler) GPU is three times more efficient than the previous-generation Fermi architecture GPU. Zotac Geforce GTX 680 also supports DirectX 11 graphics library, 3D Vision 2 display technology and PCI Express 3.0 interface.
Design
Zotac Geforce GTX 680 equipped with NVIDIA GeForce GTX 680 graphics processing unit (GK104 – Kepler code) produced on 28nm technology, shrink size up to 294mm2. Similar to the Radeon HD 7970, the GeForce GTX 680 is NVIDIA’s most powerful single-core graphics processor for today’s desktop PCs.
Kepler GPUs are expected by NVIDIA to deliver breakthrough graphics performance with three times the performance / watt ratio of previous generation Fermi architecture. In addition to GPU Boost technology with real-time GPU acceleration, the GTX 680 also features a new FXAA (fast approximate anti-aliasing) and TXAA (temporal anti-aliasing) anti-aliasing. Much more than the traditional multi-sample anti-aliasing (MSAA).
The Kepler graphics architecture also dramatically improves multi-threaded processing, making better use of the ability to handle multiple graphics pipelines at the same time and without significantly affecting performance. The Kepler GK104 has 1536 “CUDA” cores that are newly arranged into four Graphics Processing Clusters (GPCs) that share the same L2 cache.
Zotac’s announced specs indicate that the GPU clocked at the standard clock rate is 1.006MHz and can accelerate to 1.058MHz in GPU Boost mode. The card is also equipped with 2GB GDDR5 with clock speed (mem clock) of 1502 MHz and 256 bit memory interface.
ZOTAC Geforce GTX 680 also has the ability to display 3D images in 3D Vision Ready technology. DVI-I, DVI-D, DisplayPort and HDMI output and nVidia Surround technology allow up to 4 monitors to be connected to a single card to display large resolution images for gaming, movie presentations. Photo or work with multiple applications at the same time.
The card also supports 3-way SLI technology, ready for game configurations or multiple graphics cards.
Geforce GTX 680 is NVIDIA’s highest-end monolithic graphics processor with a TDP of about 195W; This graphics card will require 2 power lines + 12V PCIe 6 pins and power supply 500W or more to ensure the power to meet the entire system.
Zotac Geforce GTX 680 also supports the next-generation PCI Express 3.0 (PCIe gen3), DirectX 11.1 graphics library, OpenGL 4.2.
The closed box heat sink, large heatpipes combined with the squirrel cushion cooling fan make the heat sink more efficient. Hot air flow will be ejected through expansion card slots on the back of the case.
The accessory is quite simple, including two power-supply cables (VGA Molex Power Connector), a DVI-to-VGA converter, a driver’s manual and driver installation disc, and overclocking utility.

Performance
To test the power of the Zotac Geforce GTX 680 graphics card, Test Lab uses a test configuration built on the Z77 BMC chipset, Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit SP1 and driver. The tests include CineBench R11.5, 3DMark 11, Heaven DX11 Benchmark v3.0 and some DirectX 11 games like DiRT 3, Alien vs. Predator 1.03 and Crysis 2. The tests result in an average of three runs.
With the power of NVIDIA’s highest-end monolithic graphics processor, the Zotac GeForce GTX 680 easily conquered all tests under the Test Lab scenario built at 1600×1200 with the highest graphics setting. In addition to better performance / watt scores, the test results also show the GPU GTX 680 GPU advantage in 3DMark 11 and Heaven Benchmark graphics performance tests, while the AMD Radeon HD 7970 is even more powerful in a few DirectX 11 game.
In the DirectX 11 multi-threaded graphics rendering engine based on the 3DMark 11 engine, the tester scored 9,365 with Performance (1280×720 resolution) and reached 3,216 points with the Extreme configuration (1920×1080 resolution); higher than Sapphire HD 7970 OC graphics card about 16%.
With the Heaven Benchmark, the graphics performance is pretty much similar to 3DMark 11, but it’s mostly about Tessellation technology, one of the most prominent technologies in the DirectX 11 graphics library. Fps both in Ultra mode with the highest graphics setting (tessellation: extreme, shaders: high, 8xAA and 16xAF).
For DirectX 11 games is DiRT 3, Alien vs. Predator 1.03 and Crysis 2, Zotac Geforce GTX 680 still confirm the power of high-end graphics card pass fps. Even with Crysis 2, one of the games is classified as a “hardware assassin” today, the results of the card test at 1600×1200 resolution and graphics quality Extreme still 76.8% higher than With “standard” 30 fps.
