amazon ANKER POWERPORT III NANO 20W reviews
The size is only about the same as Apple’s 5W charger, but Anker PowerPort III Nano has four times the capacity, up to 20W, and can charge three times faster than Apple’s charger.
With the iPhone 12 Series being removed from the included charger, which according to Apple is to “protect the environment,” users have been put in a difficult position to equip the charger themselves. That is also a “once in a thousand years” opportunity for accessory companies to launch charging products compatible with iPhone 12, especially fast chargers that exploit the full 20W capacity that Apple has upgraded for the next generation. Their latest iPhone.
Anker, a company known for its cable accessories, power banks, proved very “up to date” when almost immediately launched the PowerPort III Nano 20W charger exclusively for the iPhone 12 Series. Anker claims this charger can charge iPhone 3 times faster than normal and is currently the smallest and lightest charger in its new line of chargers.
Anker PowerPort III Nano 20W is currently priced at $18 (without charging cord), 18-month warranty, half as cheap as Apple’s “original” 20W charger.
Eye-catching box, compact design
PowerPort III Nano exudes familiarity with Anker products right from the box, thanks to the familiar blue tone. You can immediately recognize the small size, which fits in the palm of this charger, through the illustration printed on the front. Specifications of 20W charging capacity, USB-C output standard is also printed here for users’ convenience.
Another interesting point in the Anker PowerPort III Nano’s case is the transparent design inside, so customers can comfortably admire the charger’s design before deciding to “single latch.” The inside of the Anker box continues to “show off” more about the compactness of the product compared to the size of a coin, saving space when plugged into an electrical outlet without being entangled with other devices. The company notes that the 20W charging port will automatically reduce power if the connected device requires it.
In addition, this charger is equipped with three typical Anker technologies, including PowerIQ 3.0 – automatically adjusts the charging current to take advantage of the full capacity. VoltageBoost – compensates charging cable resistance to keep charging speed nimble; Finally, MultiProtect – ensures both the charging device and the charger.
Indeed, when holding Anker Powerport III Nano in hand, this charger immediately impresses thanks to its “tiny” size, which is only on par with Apple’s 5W chargers. When placed next to Samsung’s 15W charger or Realme’s 18W charger, Anker’s charger clearly shows its superiority in compactness while still having a larger 20W capacity than the competition.
With this tiny size, PowerPort III Nano easily fits into pants pockets or crossbody bags, purses without taking up much space. The plastic shell surrounding the product is made of rough, sturdy, firm, non-sticky sweat, fingerprints, and scratches.
The top, which houses the polished USB-C port, the IQ 3 logo, and the USB port, are all made in Anker’s signature blue, easy to recognize. The USB port is carefully finished, with no signs of smudging.
The parameters are printed on the charger, including supporting two output lines 5V-3A and 9V-2.22A, compatible with Power Delivery standards. This charger supports a voltage range of 200-240V, flat pins.
Agile performance, only slightly warm when operating.
To test the actual performance of the Anker PowerPort III Nano 20W, I connected this charger to my iPhone 11 with an Anker PowerLine II USB-C to Lightning cable. At the same time, I also tried to charge the Galaxy Z Fold 2 and OnePlus Nord with the PowerPort III Nano and the Anker PowerLine III USB C to C cord. With iPhone 11, specifications from Apple announced that this product would support fast charging up to 18W. Meanwhile, the Galaxy Z Fold 2 supports fast-charging up to 25W, and the OnePlus Nord supports fast-charging up to 30W.
The USB-C port itself on the Anker PowerPort III Nano is integrated with Anker’s self-developed PowerIQ 3.0 technology, which has been upgraded and optimized to be compatible with the iPhone 12’s 20W fast charging protocol. In addition, users can also use this charger to charge other phones that support the Power Delivery standard quickly. Anker confirmed that with the Powerport III Nano charger, it only takes 30 minutes, the iPhone 12 will charge 50% of the battery.
When charging the iPhone 11 from 0%, after 30 minutes, Anker PowerPort III Nano 20W has filled 55% of the 3110 mAh battery of this device. After 1 hour, the battery level reached 80%, and the battery was completely 100% full after 1 hour 30 minutes. That is the same speed as Apple’s “original” fast charger. During the charging process, Anker’s charger is only slightly warm, not hot or uncomfortable.
With Galaxy Z Fold 2 and OnePlus Nord, both devices receive fast charging when connected to PowerPort III Nano 20W. When charging from 0%, after 30 minutes, the 4500 mAh battery of Z Fold 2 is 32% full, 62% full in 1 hour, and 100% battery complete in 1 hour and 50 minutes.
Using the “original” Samsung 25W charger, the Z Fold 2 reaches 46% after 30 minutes, 80% in 1 hour, and 100% full after 1 hour and 30 minutes.
As for the OnePlus Nord, the device’s 4115 mAh battery is 45% full after 30 minutes, 85% after 1 hour, and 100% full after 1 hour and 15 minutes.
When using the 30W charger included with the OnePlus Nord, after 30 minutes, the device is 60% full, and 1 hour is 100% full.
Thus, the charging speed of Anker PowerPort III Nano 20W is not much inferior to Samsung’s 25W “original” charger and OnePlus’ 30W, a difference of about 15-20%, while the size is much more compact. Anker’s charger only slightly warmed up during the entire fast charging time for the Z Fold 2 and OnePlus Nord.
Another noteworthy point is that this Anker charger can also charge Macbooks. Of course, only in fireproof, durable, and perform light tasks such as composing documents because the 20W power is too low for laptops. I have also tried plugging in some Windows computers such as LG Gram, Asus ROG Zephyrus M15, and Anker’s charger can also charge the battery, but the speed will be very slow, only about 1-2% in 10 minutes.
Summary
Compact size, high capacity, cool operation, good compatibility with many current fast charging standards, Anker PowerPort III Nano 20W, is a charger worth considering if you are a frequent traveler. In particular, for those who own an iPhone 12 Series, this deserves to be a “standard” charger when both are taking full advantage of the 20W fast charging capacity and having a small size of only the 5W charger, with a price tag. Up to half cheaper than Apple chargers.
