System performance tests
Test Lab performs system measurements running the Asus RX 480 Strix Gaming OC 8GB in two main resolutions including FHD (1.920×1.080p) and QHD (2.560×1.440p). The 4K (3.840×2.160p) is only proving to be a viable solution as this resolution exceeds the “service” range of the Asus RX 480 Strix Gaming OC 8GB in demand for high graphics performance.
Tested by Fire Strike in 3DMark software, results showed that when raising the FHD resolution to QHD, the rendering speed decreased by 42.5%.
This ratio is quite similar to the Unigine Heaven Benchmark 4.0 Test Lab set up: High Quality Quality, Normal Tessellation Technology and Anti-Aliasing to a maximum of 8x.
At FHD resolution, the average rendering capability of the system is approximately 65.4 fps. Raising QHD performance is down to only 40% to 39.6 fps, but that’s still a good figure for gamers who like large resolution and smooth resolution.

Ability to conquer the ultimate game
In setting up the famous action adventure game Rise of the Tomb Raider, Test Lab boldly activates the DirectX 12 graphics library, setting the antialiasing feature FXAA at 2 levels / high level and Very high.
Statistical results of four test scenarios, Rise of the Tomb Raider run relatively light and stable, at a minimum of 69.24fps at FHD resolution and 47.27fps at QHD.
With the above options, the frame rate per second is about 31.5%. It is worth noting that although the maximum anti-aliasing feature is not pushed, the image in the game is very nice and the player can feel the change as the character “Lara Croft” moves and fights.
The Dragon Age: Inquisition role-playing game is more powerful than the Rise of the Tomb Raider, with the Graphic API set as Mantle (with support for graphics cards with AMD Radeon GPUs), with shiny and sharp gameplay.
At QHD resolution setting the Ultra maximum quality, Dragon Age: Inquisition pulls the frame down to around 32.5fps, with an average of 39.4 fps. With the test results obtained by the Test Lab, the frame fall rate when lifting FHD to QHD ranges from 30-32%.
Continue testing the system with the Doom (2016) shooting game at QHD resolution and setting up Ultra Quality Quality at Ultra, although the OpenGL API is limited but the frame rate in the combat phase is still close “landmark” 60fps.
Vulcan API changes, the Asus RX 480 Strix Gaming OC 8GB contributed to over 100fps, and sometimes dropped to about 70-79 frames per second (fps), but the actual speed that the game reported on the screen. Images range from 80-90fps.
Comment
With the ability to render per second of the system reaches over 54fps in QHD and over 32.5fps in highest quality QHD in the test scenario 2 game like Rise of the Tomb Raider and Dragon Age: Inquisition, clear Asus RX 480 Strix Gaming OC 8GB graphics card is extremely suitable for mid-range PCs, ensuring enough to many games in QHD resolution with high graphics quality without having to reduce configuration settings.
In other words, the Asus RX 480 Strix Gaming OC 8GB demonstrates the aesthetics, performance and quality of a powerful mid-range graphics card.
