amazon Avision AV50F reviews
Designed for both mobile and fixed desktop purposes, the Avision AV50F scanner provides the right document scanning solution for busy users who can scan on the go, at work in the office or at home.
Design:
The Avision AV50F scanner has the same initial design as most other automatic document feeder (ADF) scanners. The size of the machine at this time is 297 x 235 x 158 mm, weighs about 1.7 kg.
When not in use, the paper trays of the machine can fold neatly.
The Avision AV50F ADF tray has a capacity of 20 sheets, supporting up to A4 paper sizes of 60-107g / m2.
The document feeder tray is located in front.
The Avision AV50F’s power button design is also quite a fancy rotary scan button, plus a signal light, Scan button for scan, and Cancel button for stopping.
The back of the ADF has a flap for handling in jamming situations.
The special feature of the Avision AV50F scanner is the ability to disassemble the main scanner from the ADF to transform it into a portable scanner. The scanner size of the AV50F is only 297 x 80 x 60 mm, weighing about 1kg.
The Avision AV50F has a mini USB port for connecting to a computer. It’s powered by a 24V DC power supply, which provides an optional power supply with an included adapter when used with an ADF tray or power over a USB cable when used with a laptop. Both ports are located on the scanner of the machine.
When used as a portable scanner, the Avision AV50F has a manual feed slot in the front. The card scanners can be scanned at up to 1.25mm thickness when used in mobile mode.
While most mobile scanners have a slot on the back of the paper-output slot, the Avision AV50F is exceptionally designed to be the back slot for documents to run temporarily during the scan. When the scan is finished, the document runs backward in the front slot.
The Avision AV50F scanner uses CIS (Contact Image Sensor) technology with two LEDs to scan inside, providing automatic two-sided scanning. The machine supports scanning with a maximum resolution of 600dpi, 24-bit color depth.

Quality and speed of scanning:
The Avision AV50F provides both ISIS and TWAIN driver options for Windows 2000 / XP / Vista / 7 operating systems. Installation is pretty smooth and easy with the included CD.
Machine comes with Avision’s unique Button Manager software that allows you to set up keyboard shortcuts for scanning documents into a file saved to your computer, emailed, printed to a printer, scanned and edited with the Windows Paint application, and many other options. Button Manager supports 5 image file formats for saving scan results: BMP, TIFF, JPEG, GIF and PDF, with color, grayscale or black and white modes. In addition, the machine comes with AVScan 5.0, PaperPort 11, ScanProfolio, WorldCard software for scanning, document management and editing and business card synchronization.
The Avision AV50F scans color images at the highest resolution of 600dpi, which is slightly lighter and darker than the original. The quality of A4 text scanning at 200 dpi resolution is acceptable. If raised at 600 dpi, the text quality is improved, the text is seamless and the edges are not aliasing.
Testing of individual mobile scans or scans with the ADF input tray, Test Lab found that in both cases the machines had the same scanning speed. The machine can scan thick business cards, ID cards and even ATM cards with ease. The machine works quietly and does not appear to be jammed when tested.
On scanning speed, the Avision AV50F can scan at 16 pages per minute for black and white documents at 200 dpi resolution. In it, the scanning speed of 1 page A4 black and white text at 200 dpi resolution takes 9 seconds. And by equipping two LEDs with double-sided scanning in one pass, the machine has a two-sided document scanning time with one-sided scanning. Try scanning the document at the highest resolution of 600 dpi, the machine takes 27 seconds to complete. 10x15cm photos and A4 color scans at 600 dpi resolution take 21 seconds and 34 seconds respectively, while color business cards and 2-sided ATM cards take just 11 seconds to scan at 600 dpi resolution.
In general, with a flexible design that can be transformed from desktop to mobile, the Avision AV50F scanner will meet your scanning needs while you are on the move or in the office, but the quality and speed of the scan is not really impressive.
