Preliminary Demo – Test configuration & setup
Because the demo does not include single player, we have not been able to give any rating yet. However, through EA’s epic trailer, Crysis 2 promises to swirl into a compelling story full of cinematic content. Every gamer expected.
The Crysis 2 demo offers three graphic settings: Gamer, Advanced and Hardcore. Unfortunately, Crysis 2 stopped providing servers (on March 16th), so we could not provide a quality comparison of the settings. Writers can only say that the graphics gamer setting of the game has been extremely seductive, while the Advanced and Hardcore levels provide extra processing of light and water.
Since the Demo does not include the benchmark, the results below are measured during the Pier 17 mapping process. As a result, the performance may not accurately gauge the performance of the graphics card compared to each other. However, this is not the main purpose of the article. Here we just concern about the “smooth” playing ability of the graphics card popular moment.
There is also a strange phenomenon for the GTX 570 and GTX 580 when the game can not boot. Anyway readers will also find that the GTX 560 Ti can play well at 1080p hardcore setting. So those who are (or will soon) own two graphics cards in the air need to worry when the official release.
Test results
Gamer Detail
Gamer is the lowest setting of the three levels of the Demo. Although the quality of graphics is not inferior to the latest games, but the light and water surface is far below Advanced and Hardcore.
At 17-inch widescreen resolution, mid-range graphics cards such as the GTS 450 or HD 5750 can also “scale” well with the smallest frame in excess of 30. Even the lower-level models are the GT 240 and The HD 5670 also yields acceptable results. A good news for those who have a purse under $ 100.
We may find that the graphics engine of the game seems to favor GeForce graphics cards more than comparable counterparts in AMD’s price range. Like the early versions, AMD also had little hand in developing Crysis 2 (Nvidia probably has). Hopefully in the official version this will be improved so that gamers using the red graphics card are not disadvantaged.
At 1680×1050 resolution, only GTS 450 and HD 5750 graphics cards are able to stay. The GT 240 and HD 5670 exhibit poorer dimming when failing to deliver acceptable frames.
Up to Full HD resolution, again the GTS 450 and HD 5750 were eliminated. The minimum playable option at this resolution is the HD 5770 (about $ 150-170 USD – depending on the manufacturer) and the GTX 550 Ti. Also, it looks like SLI and CrossFire are not yet complete in this Demo. Two GTX 460 SLI cards provide lower frame rates than single-card models, while the HD 6850 CrossFire also offers a frame equivalent to a single card.
Advanced Detail
The Advanced setting provides better visibility with deep space and well-lit lighting.
At 1280×1024 resolution, the answer is no. The GTS 450 and HD 5750 still have a minimum frame rate of over 30. Unfortunately, the GT 240 can not keep up with this setup anymore as the minimum frame drops to 21. While the HD 5670 maintains the same frame setting Gamer !? The biggest downside is the high end graphics cards, but the frame quality remains excellent.
The GTS 450 and HD 5750 still keep up with the 1680×1050 resolution with a minimum frame rate of over 25. The slightly higher GTX 460 is still well maintained with a minimum frame of 41 and an average of 53.2.
GTX 460 and HD 6870 are the minimum requirements to maintain image quality at Full HD Advanced setting. HD 6850 is also only acceptable. With the GTX 550 Ti and HD 5770 and below, maybe we should reduce the configuration.
Hardcore Detail
Up to the hardcore setting, the graphics of the game is on a new level. As mentioned above, we have not yet saved the comparison images before Crytek closed the test server. Readers will be provided with more visual information when playing the official game.
The GTX 460 and HD 6850 are still the two minimum models that provide the ideal frame. HD 5750, HD 5770, GTS 450 and GTX 550 Ti play temporarily for a minimum frame size of about 25. HD 5670 down reveals.
It is good to see that the GTX 460 and HD 6850 remain up to 1680×1050 resolution. At a cost of $ 200, gamers can still enjoy Crysis max settings on the big screen. Nothing could be better !!!. And finally the Full HD resolution with the highest hardcore setting.
Finally, the GTX 460 and HD 6850 were dropped when the minimum frame rate was 25. The HD 6950 and the GTX 560 were the minimum requirements. Speaking specifically about the GTX 460, with extreme overclocking capability, anyone who is and is about to own the card can be assured that the overclocking performance can increase by up to 20%.

Conclusion: Crysis 2 – good news for mid-range gamers
At the time of Crysis’s early release, the most powerful graphics card was the GeForce 8800 Ultra. At a terrible price of $ 800, the card still can not withstand the highest 1080p resolution setting when the minimum frame can not be touched 30.
Now, just the GTX 560 Ti or HD 6950 (world price <300 USD – GTX 560 Ti price 290 USD – HD 6950 price up 330 USD), gamers have been able to enjoy the set Highest setting at 1080p resolution. A bit lower is the GTX 460 and HD 6850 is also perfectly fine when using the Advanced settings.
It is also necessary to inform you that graphics cards from Nvidia offer better performance than AMD at the same price range. Radeon users, however, do not need to worry too much as the mid-range HD 5770 can get you in New York with the Advanced setup & 1680×1050 resolution. In the past, AMD has also remedied the same thing that happened with Metro 2033 and Lost Planet 2 with its new drivers. Demo that we have just tested has been cut many set options. In return, the writer believes that the official game will be more perfectly programmed for the graphics card. Crytek has done a lot in optimizing graphics for Crysis 2 over its predecessor.
In terms of gameplay, it’s straightforward that Crysis 2 has surprised us with a lot of reasonable and worthwhile improvements. With what the online demo has shown, the writer is looking forward to the changes that the company will add in the single player. Crysis 2 extremely desirable.
