amazon Dyson Corrale reviews
You may know it as the king of vacuums, but Dyson is not new to hair products. The company has taken one of our favorite hairdryers and created an innovative curling iron.
Its latest product is designed to cut the amount of damage your hair does when straightened by half and reduce the number of flyaways you experience using special, flexible heating plates.
Innovate and protect
One of the first things you’ll notice about the Dyson Corral is the unusual heating plates. They’re not as solid as normal sheets and are designed to wrap around individual sections of hair, so you get straighter hair with fewer passes.
I can see the Corrale will do less damage than a regular straightener.
When I tried, I found this to be true. One or two swipes, and my wavy hair is straight. If you’ve done it a few times to get straight hair, then I can see that Corrale does less damage than a regular straightener.
Another feature that can save your hair is heating regulation. There are three heat settings – 330 degrees F, 365 F, and 410 F, so you can choose which setting works best for your hair type. Usually, the coarser the hair, the higher the temperature you need. Corrale then adjusts the plate temperature 100 times a second so that the heat never exceeds the selected setting.
Battery and other problems
Corrale’s 4-cell lithium-ion battery can go for 30 minutes without being plugged in, which is great for those who like to get up to speed or need to check on kids while getting ready. Also, the battery provides some problems.
For one, the Corrale’s battery makes it heavy. At 76.2 ounces, it’s very heavy when you compare it to a corded straightener like the G2 ceramic and a cordless straightener like the Conair Cordless Iron. Both weigh about 16 ounces.
Corrale is almost five times heavier than your typical straightener.
Most people would probably scoff at the weight difference. It can’t be heavy, can it? However, the Corrale is almost five times heavier than your typical straightener. That’s the difference between a box of pasta and a bag of flour. Imagine how tired your arms will be after only half of your hair is done.
Another problem the battery poses is charging. The battery lasts for 30 minutes and is not long enough for some of us to do our hair. It recharges to 90% in 40 minutes and fully charges in 70 minutes. That’s a long time when you need to go to work. The answer would be to use a cord when the battery is dead (it works when plugged in), but the cord makes the Corrale even heavier. It’s 12.5 feet long!
One problem where batteries don’t contribute is when traveling. Corrale has a special tab that allows you to remove the battery to take it with you.
The Dyson Corrale is not for those who only occasionally straighten their hair. It straightens the hair very well, but it is heavier and more inconvenient than I expected. Plus, it costs around $500. That seems for a hair tool when you get the same results with a straightener that’s a fifth of the price (and weight). The only reason I can see to shell out $500 would be that if you straighten every day, you need to reduce the amount of damage in your hair.
