History About Sennheiser

Rate this post

Founder Fritz Sennheiser created Sennheiser just a few weeks after World War II with a team of seven engineers from the University of Hannover, Germany. Its first product was a voltmeter, not an audio product.

In the following years, the company began to develop microphones. By 1949, the company had developed the DM3 mini-microphone and lapel products for television use in the 1950s.

After ten years of establishment, the team of 8 people has now grown to 250 people. In addition to developing microphones, they have also started creating pairs of headphones and mixers for performances. By 1958, the company officially had the name we know today as ‘Sennheiser Electronic.’ In the 60s, Fritz Sennheiser received the honor of being a typical professor at the University of Hanover.

Featured products

Sennheiser was the first company to sell open-back headphones, the HD414 pair, in 1968. This pair of headphones was a huge success, selling up to 10 million units fastest in history.

In 1980, Sennheiser became the official microphone supplier for Lufthansa aircraft. That was also the time when the company started learning how to make wireless headphones. Sennheiser has been rekindling the idea of creating wireless headphones since the 80s!

Two other very prominent products of the company can also be mentioned: the Orpheus super high-end electrostatic headphones in 1991, the world’s first pair of infrared headphones named IS 850 in 1993.

Sennheiser has a very large product range, so the sound quality is very diverse, but in the main product lines, it is divided into two directions: warm, easy to hear, and high accuracy. The old generation IE (In-ear – Monitor) series and the HD5xx and HD6xx series often have an easy-to-listen sound pattern, which can be said to be darker. The company saves the ‘standard’ sound quality with high soundstage, excellent detail for the high-end HD8xx series (800, 800s, 820) and Orpheus pairs (HE90, HE60, and HE1).

This company is very loyal to the Dynamic diaphragm type, which pushes the limits of this type of diaphragm to new heights when it can create many types of sound, many different levels of sound quality, in small pairs In-ear headphones to large Full-size. But as mentioned, the company also has a few pairs of electrostatic headphones called Orpheus. Still, these products have a very ‘heavenly’ price, so it is rare for anyone to own to experience!

During the operation, Sennheiser and developer Fritz Sennheiser won many certifications. Its RF wireless headset system even received an Emmy in 1995!

Founder Fritz Sennheiser died in 2010, at which point the company has become an irreplaceable name, its ‘spanning’ in every market in Europe, China, Japan, and Russia.

The biggest contribution to the success of Sennheiser is that it always captures new technology. It always tries to create many products at different price ranges, so anyone who has played short or long-term sound, no matter what your financial conditions, can choose a suitable product for yourself!
